Why Does Depression Make The Littlest Things Seem So Daunting

Recommended Posts

I don't know either. But when I read things about depression being "possibly" linked to volumetric losses in the brain; 20% here, 28% there and so on . . . it seems to make sense. How could a brain so devestated by illness not have trouble with all kinds of things. I don't know if the research will be finally validated or invalidated but it certainly would explain a lot.

I think we expect more of our little brains than we do of any other part of our bodies. We don't expect a broken leg to behave the same as one that is not broken. But we can be really hard on the brain. At least I know I can.

You're absolutely right. Sometimes even smiling at my friends and family or simply looking at them in the eyes is like climbing a high mountain for me, and sometimes I'm scared to do it because of how I could end up feeling afterwards. Insane, I know. Never had this kind of issues before, but depression changes everything.
