Cop Shoot Cop - "Coldest Day of the Year"

The mind keeps drifting backwards towards the formative years
With nausea, not nostalgia--the bells are ringing in the ears
The temptation to homogenize, the compulsion to submerge
Beneath a quantity of alcohol

On the coldest day of the year

Depression and detention and a rock to let off tension

Carbon monoxide, carbon monoxide
Pulse like a receding tide
Can't you feel it slip away?

On the coldest day of the year

The earth which fed you now consumes you

On the coldest day of the year

Have temporarily [hopefully!!!!] lost the ability to appreciate music.  Can't wait to get it back!!!!  Music has always been one of the spiritual backbones of my life!

Starsailor - "Way to Fall"

Son, you've got a way to fall
They'll tell you where to go
But they won't know

Son, you'd better take it all
They'll tell you what they know
But they won't show

Oh, I've got something in my throat
I need to be alone
While I suffer

Oh, there's a hole inside my boat
And I need stay afloat
For the summer long

Pale Blue Eyes….   Lou Reed

…..Thought of you as my mountain top,

Thought of you as my peak….
Thought of you as everything,
I've had but couldn't keep….
I've had but couldn't keep…...
Linger on, your pale blue eyes…..

This is how I feel after putting up the tree for christmas

"The Season's Upon Us"

The season's upon us, it's that time of year
Brandy and eggnog, there's plenty of cheer
There's lights on the trees
And there's wreaths to be hung
There's mischief and mayhem
And songs to be sung

There's bells and there's holly, the kids are gung-ho
True love finds a kiss beneath fresh mistletoe
Some families are messed up while others are fine
If you think yours is crazy
Well you should see mine

My sisters are whack-jobs, I wish I had none
Their husbands are losers and so are their sons
My nephew's a horrible, wise little twit
He once gave me a gift wrapped box full of

He likes to pelt carolers with icy snow balls
I'd like to take him out back
And deck more than the halls
With family like this, I would have to confess
I'd be better off lonely, distraught and depressed

The season's upon us, it's that time of year
Brandy and eggnog, there's plenty of cheer
There's lights on the trees
And there's wreaths to be hung
There's mischief and mayhem and songs to be sung
They call this Christmas where I'm from

My mom likes to cook, push our buttons and prod
My brother just brought home another big broad
The eyes roll and whispers come loud

From the kitchen I'd come home more often
If they'd only quit Biotching

Dad, on the other hand's a selfish old sod
Drinks alcohol alone with my miserable dog
Who won't run or fetch, yeah, he couldn't care less
He defiled my teddy bear and left me the mess

The season's upon us, it's that time of year
Brandy and eggnog, there's plenty of cheer
There's lights on the trees
And there's wreaths to be hung
There's mischief and mayhem and songs to be sung
They call this Christmas where I'm from

The table's set, we raise a toast
The Father, Son and the Holy Ghost
I'm so glad this day only comes once a year
You can keep your opinions, your presents, your “Happy New Year”
They call this Christmas where I'm from

i heard this on the radio while I was driving and just started cracking up
They call this Christmas where I'm from

Nice guys finish last - The words ring so true, especially the "your such a funny guy" bit,

I guess I should see it as praise but now after years of hearing variations of that over

and over again I just want someone to tell me Im sexy or attractive for a change.

Pink Floyd - "Dogs"

I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze?

Deaf, dumb and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable, and no one has a real friend
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
And everything's done under the sun
And you believe at heart everyone's a killer

Who was born in a house full of pain
Who was trained not to spit in the fan
Who was told what to do by the man
Who was broken by trained personnel

Who was fitted with collar and chain
Who was given a pat on the back
Who was breaking away from the pack

Who was only a stranger at home

Who was ground down in the end
Who was found dead on the phone
Who was dragged down by the stone
Who was dragged down by the stone

Dredg - "Same Ol' Road"

Here we go, down that same old road again
Sympathy unfolds the shell that holds
All the beauty within
Here we go, down that same old road again

A memory, a regret, a hope

Here we go, down that same old road again
Empathy controls the wind that blows
And tickles our skin

A memory, a regret, a hope, a stimulus

Recent it seems
We must push on, we must push on
Though we bleed
We must push on, we must push on
