What Did You Do Today? #2

Recommended Posts

I've been playing NBA 2K19 most of the weekend trying to get through the season before the new game comes out.  The first round of the playoffs takes such a long time to get through!  At the end of this I will be able to say I played every game with every team which I didn't think was possible but I'm doing it.

Nothing much today, just played a lot of Final Fantasy 13-2. Video games are great. Though my tastes in games might be a bit different than some of your guys' lmao. I finally stopped being too sad to wash my hair, and I also organized school stuff.

After a few restless hours of "sleep", I was out of bed at 6am to help my parents get one of my mom's cats into the pet carrier for his trip to the cat specialist for grooming.  He's a 27 pound Maine Coon, the largest domestic cat breed, which is the reason why I was needed to help wrestle him into the carrier.  The haircut he gets every 6 months is a variation of a "lion cut"...which looks cute and also somewhat hilarious haha (they leave a little puff of fur at the end of his tail 🙂).    He should be ready to be picked up soon, we're still waiting for them to call.  The reason my mom has these haircuts done for her Maine Coons is that their fur tends to form mats when it's really long.  Something I've never had to worry about with little Sissy, who has very short fur (and weighs under 7 pounds, she's tiny).

We got a call from them, and apparently he had some sort of panic attack and had to be sedated.  So it's going to be a while before he can come home.  Poor kitty 😞

Toook some returns to Walmart...paid some bills...unpacked from my trip to Chicago...took the garbage dumpsters out to the street.  That's about it so far.  I am really dragging after my rail journey.

I looked into getting a Maine coon a few years ago.  Pure breeds are expensive.  Interesting cats I've read.  Said you could usually walk them on a leash, and their personality was somewhat dog like.  As a breed, the developed themselves from feral cats in Maine and nearby, and were eventually recognized by whomever designates breeds.  Beautiful cats.  Fluffed up, they look large indeed.  I always wondered how your average dog would react to one.  "That cat looks fine to me.  I think I will not chase him."

Yeah they really are cool looking cats.  Definitely expensive for sure, and my mom has always been fascinated by the breed.  It's interesting both of my mom's coons have completely opposite personalities.  One of them (Caleb) is really skittish and wary of anyone other than my mom, he clings to her...a momma's boy haha.  The other one (Hamish), the one we took to get groomed and a haircut today, is much more outgoing and social with humans (usually) and other cats.  Funny though they are both very wary of my cat Sissy despite being 4 times her size.  Sissy's 18 and they seem to actually respect her for being so much older.

By the way Hamish is back home safe and sound, and sporting his new haircut.

I attended a depression support group meeting. I went to visit my mom and together we cooked 3 lbs of chicken breasts with 3 sauces - tomato, paprikash and mole.

I predict I'll be eating a lot of chicken in September.

It sounds good.  I never heard of paprikash and mole so I had to google that.  A mole around here sure isn't something I want to eat but after searching it does look good.

From what I can decipher from my Fitbit I woke up just before 4am ugh. Not tired and haven’t slept a healthy amount in a few days. Things are getting done, but I am fighting to pace myself and not chase a high.

🤣 Truth! Eating a mole might be kinda unpleasant but mole (mole-lay) poblano is a rich and delicious sauce, also sorta spicy. It's too laborious to make from scratch but it can store bought or found in Mexican restaurants and I highly recommend it.

Paprikash is Hungarian, not spicy, easy to cook and delicious over noodles.

All of it is going in bags and containers and shoved in my freezer for easy meals all month.
