LonelyHiker
The Who - Quadrophenia (the whole album)Roger Waters - The Pros & Con's of Hitchhiking (ditto)Identify strongly with the protagonists in both of these rock operas...sometimes I fancy they the same character, young, rebellious and disillusioned in the first, older, bitter and jaded (and not a little terrified) in the second...

brightersidestolife
The Smiths and Morrissey were basically my shoulder to cry on when I was in my early teens. I found solace in the lyrics that reminded me that all the angst and insecurity I was feeling was something that others have gone through, and will continue to do so. Here are some memorable lyrics: I know its over:If you're so very good-looking, why do you sleep alone tonight?""I know 'cause tonight is just like any other nightThat's why you're on your own tonightWith your triumphs and your charmsWhile they're in each other's arms" And on a more uplifting note Ask: Shyness is nice and shyness can stop youFrom doing all the things in life you'd like toSo, if there's something you'd like to tryIf there's something you'd like to tryAsk me, I won't say "No", how could I ?

InfinateandDistant
Hey, I have read most of this thread, and may I suggest something without being a butt? Not to criticize anyone, but who has the time to listen to all of the links that have been posted instead of just reading the names and artists of the songs? Now for my contribution. I have an extremely long list of songs that I listen to, sometimes at extremely high volume levels. In my home, I have a PA system made by Peavy and in my 4 door Blazer I have a 1,200 watt tuned stereo system that I rattle my hard of hearing head with. (Especially if I want to tune everyone out!) The list is as follows:1. No More Tears by Ozzy Osbourne (Ozzy)2. Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue3. Road To Nowhere by Ozzy4. Crazy Train by Ozzy5. Mama, I'm Coming Home by Ozzy6. All Shook Up by Elvis Presley (Elvis)7. Breathe by Faith Hill8. Carrying Your Love With Me by George Strait9. Desperado by Eagles10. Don't Be Cruel by Elvis11. (Everything I Do) I Do It For You by Brandy12. Have You Ever by Brandy13. Faithfully by Journey14. Family Affair by Mary J. Blige15. Feeling Stronger Every Day by Chicago16. Fight For Your Rights by Motley Crue17. Hard To Say I'm Sorry by Chicago18. Have You Really Ever Loved A Woman by Brian Adams19. Heartbreak Hotel by Elvis20. I Can Only Imagine by Mercy Me21. I Don't Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith22. If Everyone Cared by Nickelback23. Just You And Me by Chicago24. Lady Down On Love by Alabama25. Like A Rock by Bob Segar26. Mama, I'm Coming Home by Ozzy27. No More Tears by Ozzy28. Nothing Else Matters by Metallica29. Unforgiven by Metallica30. The One by Gary Allen31. Only God Knows Why by Kid Rock32. Open Arms by Journey33. Purple Rain by Prince34. Rockstar by Nickelback35. The Rose by Conway Twitty36. Simple Man by Charlie Daniels37. Spirit In The Sky by Norman Greenbaum38. Take Me Down by Alabama39. Turn The Page by Bob Segar40. Why Lady Why by Alabama41. A Womans Love by Alan Jackson42. You're The Inspiration by Chicago Some of the songs are old school. But if you look them up, you may like them. You never know, right? Thanks for reading and allowing me to post. Have a great day! 20YearsandCounting
Okay, so here's my Anxiety Hell playlist; this actually helps me relax when I'm having an anxiety attack. Anxiety makes my thought process very obsessive and difficult to get out of, that's why the heavy music helps me. I usually listen to it on shuffle.'Bleed It Out' - Linkin Park'Frayed Ends of Sanity' - Metallica'One Step Closer' - Metallica'Bang Your Head' - Quiet Riot'Given Up' - Linkin Park'The Thing That Should Not Be' - MetallicaThen we change gears, and just for kicks, here's a few of my favorite Rush songs, though I'm firmly convinced there's no such thing as a bad Rush song.'2112 Overture''The Trees''La Villa Strangiato''Subdivisions''Time Stands Still''Freewill''Tom Sawyer'and it goes on and on......
Luis
Personally one of the songs I listen to at my lowest is "You Found Me" by The Fray. The singer talks about a conversation with God, where he interrogates Him about why He has allowed him to feel forgotten and "lost and insecure." That really resonates with me, due to my ongoing depression issues.

My favorite song by The Smiths is "How Soon is Now", both for the music and the lyrics:There's a clubIf you'd like to goYou could meet somebodyWho really loves youSo you go and you stand on your ownAnd you leave on your ownAnd you go homeAnd you cry and you want to die When you say it's gonna happen nowWell, when exactly do you mean?See, I've already waited too longAnd all my hope is gone

Dolphin2013
I have to put this song on my list, although it's not something I'm always inspired to listen to."You Can Relax Now," by Susan McCullenhttp://youtu.be/w20Kxe0ESxgIt's easier to get digital copies of the cover by Shaina Noll.it's beautiful and soothing. And before I had anyone prescribe Xanax for my severe flight anxiety, I listened to this song over and over and over. First on cassette. Then the Shaina Noll version when mp3's became available.I have a playlist on my iPod that are all songs about facing fear and fighting depression in some way.1) L'Arena - that song that plays in **** Bill when Uma Thurman is fighting her way out of the coffin2) Go Where The Love Is (is that Edie Brickell?)3) Crazy - Gnarls Barkley (because)4) Lament 1 (Bird's Lament) - Moondog (you just have to hear the kind of dread, fighting anguish in this brief piece)5) What's Up - 4 Non Blondes (because really no one understands me!)6) Spider on my bed - Spider Nick & the Maddogs (because it's a fun song)7) Pencil Full of Lead - Paolo Nutini (fun song, hey life is okay!)8) Times are bad - Paul Sturm (performance where he talks into the telephone and the recorded voice talks back...it's hard to explain but it sums up some of the anger I feel at being depressed)9) almost anything by the Talking Heads, but especially Take Me To The RiverThose are my "just do something" songs. Although I have others. There is some music which I can't listen to without a visceral reaction, it hurts so much to hear it. I can't even write down the names. Whew. But what I'm dancing to lately: "Uptown Funk," by Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars. Oh and "Teach Me How to Dougie," Cali Swag :)
