Valgomoms
The more I read about ADHD, the more I question myself.I have a lot of symptoms but not hyperactivity. Here are a few:1. Focusing on a conversation: I zone out and I don't listen to what someone says. Often, I can ask the same question again later, because I don't even know if that person told me what I want to know.2. Mistakes at work, trouble focusing3. Procrastination4. Forgetful5. Don't finish what I start6. Can't stand the stress7. anxiety8. DepressionI have a lot of the symptoms but not the restlesness. Here's my questions:1. Do you have to be hyperactive to have ADHD?2. Can you take AD with ADHD medication?3. For the people who are treated with ADHD medication and AD, do you noticed any improvement in you depression and symptoms of ADHD? Do you feel that your brain works differently with the medications? Do you feel better? If so, can you explain?I would like your opinions before I take an appointment with my doctor. Thanks!
Paint Pastel Princess
There's also ADD (attention deficit disorder) that doesn't have the hyperactivity symptom. It could be your problem, but those symptoms are very vague, so talk to your doctor, because it could be a million of things. It could be stress or something else :) Me, for instance, have fibromyalgia, anxiety and depression, and i have every symptom you mentioned (of course, with some others, but you get the point) ;P
Valgomoms
I was just reading about ADHD Innatentive type and I really can relate to it. I just don't know if medications really help or people try to learn to live with it without medication?I know it would be important to seek a medical opinion and try not to diagnosed myself.Thank you!
Fizzle
Most women or girls are likely to inattentive rather than hyperactive and hyperactivity in general goes down in adulthood in general so is less common in adults. Consider which traits you have had all your life. Depression and anxiety cause inattentiveness, as do all the other points on your first list. Good luck figuring it out.
blondi1965
I actually went to my doctors about a month ago for the exact things that you outlined.I asked about receving a prescription for Aderral, but my doctor said that with the laws (?) that I had to complete a Neuro (ADHD) test at our local hospital before he could write me a script. (my appt. is on 11/6/14 - soooo long to wait! :( sad face)He then put me on Pristiq (my other depression med was not working), but after three weeks of being on Pristiq, my anxieties were getting out of control and interfering (major like) while at work.Because of my anxieties getting out of hand, my doctor took me off Pristiq and put me on Citalopram (generic for Celexa). Anxieties have calmed down, but I still am not able to focus, and find myself still having alot of 'squirrels' :pBest Wishes to both of us Valgomoms But I just wanted you to know that your not alone with how you feel/what you're going thru. Valgomoms
So, i'm back from my appointment with a Vyvanse prescription. He made me fill out a test and it came out as adhd. What makes me nervous is usually you need to be seen by a mental health professional, like a psychiatrist. And he is a family doctor. But here, in Canada, our ressources for adhd are not like in the United States. So we have to go with the flow.He said that i did the right thing by taking an appointment and the med should change my life. We'll see!

Dolphin2013
I do hope it helps. I was also recently tested. (psychiatrist referred me to an evaluating psychologist): 2 days worth of tests.I am currently taking Strattera.I believe my depression has been exacerbated by undiagnosed AD/HD-Primarily Inattentive type. There are a lot of resources at CHADD.org and addresources.org.In addition to the meds, you ought to try to get some support--either a therapist who specialises in ADD or a coach. And if neither of those works for you, there are lots of books with good suggestions about how to make your life better.

First thing i know, i'm coming back to me, the car is stopped in the middle of the road and I'm waiting for the traffic light. But the problem is THERE IS NO TRAFFIC LIGHT, where i'm waiting!!! It was far away from me.I completely zoned out! it was dark and other cars were passing next to me.First time that i lose it at this point. I started my meds this morning and I guess they worned out by 9 pm.But, come on, i'm getting dangerous for myself and others when driving. It really scared me!
Dolphin2013
Wow! I know you mentioned zoning out, but please, please, don't drive using the medication until you're sure you know what it does to you! And tell your doctor if you think you need something that will last longer than whatever Vyanse does. You might need something in addition that might get you through the rest of the day.One of the side effects of one of my meds was so strong when I first started, I just was too spaced-out to drive!!!Stay safe!
