  1. Hi everyone, im hoping for some advice. I suffer from MDD (major depressive disorder). I have tried many Anti-Depressants, with very little if any improvement. So far ive tried: Remeron up to 30mg - did absolutely nothing Bupropion up to 300mg - did absolutely nothing Seroquel XR up to 400mg - did absolutely nothing Saphris up to 20mg - helped alot at first, but then stopped working. Celexa up to 40mg - helped some, but after several months its plateaued So now, which medication should i try next? Which would be the most likely to work and less likely to give me side-effects? My doctor basically goes with whatever i suggest, so any input here will be alot of help, thanks alot in advance.
  2. Im confused. My doctor said Celexa over 40 mg is only dangerous to certain people who have pre-existing cardiac conditions. He said it would only be a risk to about 1% of people who take it. Is this accurate? Or is it a higher risk to everyone?
  3. hi misscelexa, sorry for the late reply, i didnt have internet for a while. ive been on celexa for 10 weeks now. i havent experienced the physical symptoms like you...but like you, ive wanted to stay in bed and do nothing else. i keep a journal of how i feel, and so far its been 11 days that i feel very depressed & have zero interest in anything. However, today i feel better...hopefully ive snapped out of this bad period.
  4. I did talk to my pdoc a few days ago...but he wasnt much help...he didnt even agree that its common to have ups & downs when starting a new AD, which i thought was common knowledge. Honestly ive learned more from people's feedback on here than i have with my doctor.
  5. I have read and been told that the beginning of starting a new AD can be a bumpy ride with lots of ups and downs, until the medication kicks in fully. My question is, at what point does the bumpy ride end? Ive already been taking Celexa 40mg for 8 weeks, and the past few days ive felt my depression coming back...i didnt think this would still be happening 8 weeks in.
  6. I agree they are not happy pills, but i love how i feel when they are working...i feel the ability & desire to do things, and ability to enjoy things. When they are not working, i feel completely unwilling to do anything, completely unable to enjoy anything.
  7. How many days would count as a bad period? So far its been about 5 days. Im not sure if he can increase my dose anymore, because im on Celexa 40mg, i heard any higher causes heart risks.
  8. So ive been taking Celexa for 5 weeks now...a few days after starting i felt alot better...but then i felt bad again (depressed & angry) for about a week or two...then i felt better again...but the past few days ive felt bad again...is it normal to have these random down periods??
  9. Thanks, im glad i feel stable, its a big improvement from the suffering i was going through. I still only feel neutral, so i hope with time i can actually feel good.
  10. Yes i am...so far its been exactly a week, and i think i feel a lil better. My mood is not great, but its stable, im not suffering as i was before.
  11. 40mg Celexa = 20mg Lexapro 20mg Celexa = 10mg Lexapro Thats what i thought too, but look at this link: http://www.depressio...ated-to-celexa/ "A clinical trial of LEXAPRO in people with moderate to severe depression found that a dose of 10 mg per day of LEXAPRO was as effective as a dose of 40 mg a day of Celexa." It really isn't clear how much more effective 40 mg of Celexa is over 20 mg of Celexa. I just wanted to add that on Lexapro for about 5 years, the last yeat being on 5mg. After a while, it seemed to have pooped out on me so we upped the dosage back to 10 mg and it didn't help at all, in fact in made me worse. I taperred of and had been off the Lex for 2 weeks and just feeling horrible. My pdoc started me on Seroquel XR and it seemed to work but I would always start feeling bad again about a week after we would up the dosage. This was starting to make me feel really hopeless. I asked the pdoc if we could add an antidepressant, I thought about Paxil or Luvox. He said that those would be stimulating me too much, so he suggested Celexa/citalopram. I said what the heck, let's just do it. After 4 days of taking the Citalopram, I started feeling MUCH BETTER! I've been on the Citalopram for 6 days now and the anxiety is pretty much gone and my thoughts are much calmer and I feel like the old me again. I'm taking Citalopram 10mg and will be starting 20mg on Sunday. I can only imagine how good I will feel on 20!!! Are you taking Celexa/Citalopram just for anxiety, or for depression as well?
  12. 40mg Celexa = 20mg Lexapro 20mg Celexa = 10mg Lexapro Thats what i thought too, but look at this link: "A clinical trial of LEXAPRO in people with moderate to severe depression found that a dose of 10 mg per day of LEXAPRO was as effective as a dose of 40 mg a day of Celexa."
  13. I have one more question...is Celexa 40mg equivalent to Lexapro 20mg? or Lexapro 10mg?
  14. Today was a bad day, i been in a very bad mood & had rage attacks several times.
