  1. I have been severely depressed for about a year now, but also suicidal. I know about the hotlines and such, thanks, not interested. I'm just wondering how someone can be truly depressed without being suicidal. I just don't know what that would feel like. I don't think you can be depressed without being suicidal.
  2. I hope you had a fantastic day :)

  3. I haven't had a lot of good days lately, so probably not the best to answer. But if you're having some good days and some bad, it sounds like you are getting better. I would be glad for just one good day, but I'm always reminded of my life and the problems I'm facing and it can bring me down in no time. I hope you have more good days soon.
  4. I'm the same way. I cannot listen to any music at all. It seems like every song depresses me even further. It sounds as if it's quite common by the responses.
  5. Hi, new to the DF. I am considering taking short-term disability from my job (up to 12 weeks) and am wondering if there are any disadvantages. I am severely depressed with GAD, have been under the care of both a psychologist and a psychiatrist, and they both think it's a good idea. My questions are, what happens if you decide not to go back to that job, instead, look for a new one? Will the new employer look badly upon you because of this, and how much do they have a right/need to know? I don't have a high-powered career or anything, just an average job, but am still wondering if this will hurt my chances of future employment. My current job is only adding to my stress and depression, and am not sure I will want to return to it if I do the short-term, but I figure short-term disability is better than getting fired over my inability to work and unemployment. If you have any other thoughts as well, that would be appreciated.
