  1. I'm not sure what causes depression, but I feel there's an abnormality in the brain. I think all the new anti-depressants are over rated, but may work for some people. Are the SSRIs better then the Tricyclics, I'm not so sure. I think there needs to be much more research done on depression and what causes it.

I'm on a high dose of Paxil and it usually works, yet the past four days I've been severely depressed. I just don't understand what's going on.

I've been dealing with depression for most of my life and have tried so many meds, I've yet to be "cured".

Bottom line, I'm not convinced any of these meds really work!

  2. Hi Unjust and welcome.

I can relate to what you're feeling, I spend most of my day alone. I have terrible anxiety attacks and being alone makes it worse.

I've found getting involved in something you like, with other people helps. It's a great distraction and gives our brain a rest. I know having a baby makes it difficult to get out, but I'm sure there's something you can do with her. Or maybe have someone watch her for a few hours, so you can participate in something that's fun for you.

  3. I have anxiety and depression and have suffer from back pain for years. I know it's in my head, whenever I get stressed my back starts hurting.

I also suffer from migraines, leg pain and neck problems.

Are you on any medication? i find controlling my anxiety, helps my physical symptoms.

  4. Hi EQ24,

I suffer from numerous physical problems, due to my anxiety. I've been trying to deal with migraines and most recently lower back problems.

I just started a new job and my anxiety went through the roof, three days later, my back started hurting.

It has gotten so bad I can hardly move, this has happened before when my anxiety gets really bad.

Needless to say, I can't work until my back heals and that won't happen until my anxiety decreases.

It's a vicious cycle with me, now I have anxiety due to my back problems and not being able to work.

Sometimes taking a step back and looking at what's creating your physical problems helps.

I know my physical problems, stem from anxiety. I'm working on changing my thought process, to reduce my anxiety level. I know once I can do this, physically I'll start to feel better.

  5. As a child I was bullied by a neighbor's son. He was relentless with his insults, I never took it to heart. I guess even back then I didn't care what people thought of me.

A few years back, as a man in his forties I heard he committed suicide. The bullying wasn't about me at all, he was the one with the problems.

A bully, is nothing but a coward inside. They feel the need to put other people down in order to feel better about themselves.

Even as an adult, people have tried to bully me and I don't tolerate it! Never let anyone put you down or tell you your not good enough.
