My name is Sergio, and I'm from Mexico City. I'm 22 and I've been depressed for almost 4 years now. I might go into detail a bit later, but I wanted to ask for an opinion. My depression has taken my friends and my ability to study from me among other things. I know I can't overcome this by myself, but I don't trust therapists even though I haven't met one. Same thing for doctors. I just don't like them, but I have a reason for the latter as they have never been very helpful for me except for taking my parents money. I fear therapists will be the same. So I was thinking, does anyone have any experience with a group therapy? Could it help? As far as I know it consists of a bunch of depressed people talking about their problems and I feel that just being there might help me not feel so alone and worthless. Is it a good idea? Or is therapy with a professional the only way to go?
