  1. *sigh* You can always tell the ones who have never ventured outside of America who decry the horrors of the Great Experiment. Go spend some time in Asia, the Middle East or Africa and then get back to me on the American violations of human rights. Take a trip to South America or Europe and refresh me on what civil rights are. The pursuit of life, liberty and happiness is not a guaranty but only an opportunity. You have to apply the elbow-grease to the machinery to make YOUR dreams a reality.
  2. I go weeks without talking to another human. My usual interaction only comprises of the check out clerk when I go to town for groceries.
  3. The more I read of others interactions with their relatives, roommates and the public in general... The more I think my choice of isolation was the right one...
  4. If you have to ask, you already have your answer. Nothing you have said decries a trauma, or illness. There seems to be no underlying incident or occurrence. You just seem to have failed to grow up and become an adult. To quote the Dread Pirate Roberts: "Life is Pain. Anyone who says otherwise is selling something."
  5. Tooth Fairy (2010) - 8 out of 10 - When minor-league hockey player Derek Thompson (Dwayne Johnson) -- who has a penchant for knocking out his opponents' teeth every time he plays -- disillusions a fan, he is sentenced to a stint for one week as a bona fide, tutu-clad, real-life tooth fairy. Soon, Derek is inspired to rekindle his youthful dreams. 16 Blocks (2006) - 7 out of 10 - An aging cop (Bruce Willis) is assigned the ordinary task of escorting a fast-talking witness (Yasiin Bey) from police custody to a courthouse, but they find themselves running the gauntlet as other forces try to prevent them from getting there. The Wicker Man (1973) - 7 out of 10 - Police sergeant Neil Howie (Edward Woodward) is called to an island village in search of a missing girl whom the locals claim never existed. Stranger still, however, are the rituals that take place there. Also stars Christopher Lee as Lord Summerisle. Deep Blue Sea (1999) - 5 out of 10 - Researchers on the undersea lab Aquatica have genetically altered the brains of captive sharks to develop a cure for Alzheimer's disease. But there's an unexpected side effect: the sharks got smarter, faster, and more dangerous. After a big storm damages their remote research facility, they must fight for their lives.
  6. The Monolith Monsters (1957) - 7 out of 10 - Rocks from a meteor, which grow when in contact with water, threaten a sleepy Southwestern desert community. Stars Grant Williams and Lola Albright.
  7. You're not alone. Since my wife passed, I have no pleasure in anything. I used to be a voracious reader...haven't finished a book this year yet. I've lost all interest in my gaming...and I own thousands of PlayStation Games...We used to spend hours in the kitchen cooking up meals...now everything has no taste and I don't venture into any extensive cooking adventures. This has been going on for two years now. I just do what needs to be done when it needs to be done. Besides that, I just veg in front of the computer and TV...
  8. Perhaps you both should go see her doctor, explain the situation and see if the DR. will either adjust the medicine or change it.
  9. Wildfire 7: The Inferno (2002) - 6 out of 10 - Nell is a young mother convicted of manslaughter. While serving her sentence, she is allowed to join a wildfire training program and eventually becomes the Boss of her own Smoke Jumper fire team, one of which happens to be her training boss while she was in prison. Faultline (2004) - 4 out of 10 - In the beautiful underwater reefs off the coast of Florida's pastoral Pajero Island, a fissure rips open in the ocean floor. When graduate student Greg Chambers encounters the seismic readings, he rushes to tell his professor, Anthony McAlister. Greg suspects that a massive earthquake is about to give the small island a rude awakening. To make matters worse, the epicenter is right under Pajero Island's new resort, where Anthony's estranged wife Lynn is working. As they drive to warn Lynn, the quake tears through the small town, damaging downtown and leveling several homes. The bridge connecting the island to the mainland is wiped out. Lynn and three others are trapped underground in the resort's utility tunnels. Storm Chasers: Revenge of the Twister (1998) - 4 out of 10 - Jamie Marshall (Kelly McGillis) is a "storm chaser" who, having lost her husband in a crash after his plane was struck by lightning, recklessly throws herself into her work. Sent by her boss to Colorado to investigate the cause of a devastating tornado, she meets Will Stanton (Wolf Larson), Field Coordinator for FEMA. One night, while working closely together examining the wreckage of the recent storm, Jamie and Will experience a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon - a ball of lightning falling from the sky connecting with the ground all around them. As Will tries to shield Jamie from the lightning, the two embrace and find themselves in a passionate kiss. The next day Jamie and Will return to the location. What they discover is a facility where waste from scientific experimentation is affecting the atmosphere causing the tornadoes. Armed with the new information and seven new tornadoes on the horizon, Jamie and Will prepare the already tornado ravaged town for another possible disaster!
  10. Chosen Survivors (1974) - 6 out of 10 - A group of diverse individuals are suddenly taken from their homes and flown via helicopter to a futuristic bomb shelter in the desert, nearly two miles below the surface of the Earth. There they learn that a nuclear holocaust is taking place and that they've been "chosen" by computer to survive in the shelter in order to continue the human race. The shelter is designed to allow the people to exist underground comfortably for years, but they are faced with a threat nobody could have predicted: a colony of thousands of bloodthirsty vampire bats finds a way into the shelter and launches a series of vicious attacks where they claim the humans one by one. Starts off strong, falls apart midway through. Battle for the Lost Planet (1986) - 6 out of 10 - To escape his captors, an industrial spy hijacks a space shuttle only to find the controls malfunctioning. Catapulting through outer space, he sights alien battleships approaching earth. Many years later when the arc of his flight path returns him to earth, he discovers the planet is completely under alien domination, totally devastated by thermo-nuclear battles. Desperate and alone, he searches for any human existence. Finding a group of survivors, together they fight the aliens to save mankind. If this movie had the benefit of a better cast and an actual budget, it could have been something of note.
  11. Revenge of the Nerds (1984) - 7 out of 10 - At Adams College, the jocks rule the school from their house on high, the Alpha Beta fraternity. So when a group of socially-challenged misfits try to go Greek, they're instantly rejected by every house on campus. Deciding to start their own fraternity to protect their outcast brothers, the campus nerds soon find themselves in a battle royal as the Alpha Betas try to crush their new rivals. John Wick (2014) - 8 out of 10 - Ex-hitman John Wick comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that took everything from him.
  12. Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys (2004) - 7 out of 10 - A group of toymakers seek to use Andre Toulon's formula, now in the hands of Toulon's great-nephew Robert, to give life to a line of demonic toys that they plan to unleash on Christmas Eve. A great crossover movie that brings two of the best campy series together. Corey Feldman plays his part beautifully. You'll only enjoy this if you enjoy schlock horror. Chisum (1970) - 8 out of 10 - Based on real life events that happened in the New Mexico Territory between 1878 and 1881. Cattle baron John Chisum joins forces with Billy the Kid and Pat Garrett to fight the Lincoln County land war. Stars John Wayne, Forrest Tucker and Ben Johnson. The Entity (1982) - 8 out of 10 - Based on documented real life events. Carla Moran, a hard-working single mother, is raped in her bedroom by someone - or something - that she cannot see. Despite skeptical psychiatrists, she is repeatedly attacked in her car and her house by this invisible force. Could this be a case of hysteria or something more horrific?
  13. Started working again on Lollipop Chainsaw... Think of Bring It On meets Ash vs Evil Dead and that should give you an idea of what it's like.
  14. I've not been a beer drinker since the age of 19. It was like drinking soda pop. By the time I got a buzz, I was running back and forth to the rest room emptying it out just as fast as it came in. I stick with white liquor, mixed with everything from soda, to juice to Kool-Aid. I'm now finishing off a bit more than a 5th a day of rum, vodka, anisette or gin, depending on the mood. Some days, I break out the high octane 100 proof schnapps and on those really bad pain days I resort to the 190 proof Everclear. While your story is inspiring, it just isn't in my future. Getting physically fit isn't something that I'm capable of, mostly because of the compression fracture in my spine, 2 herniated discs and nerve damage. Just walking the 150 ft down to the mailbox and back is trying enough. Honestly, the biggest detriment to me stopping drinking is that I have no reason to do it.
