  1. Update for those in my shoes: after 4 weeks & 1 day of horrible insomnia (worse than before I started taking Lexapro)where I'd wake up hours before my alarm, the insomnia started to get better. I'm now almost 6 weeks out. I still feel like I'm sleeping lighter than I used to and I do occasionally wake up in the middle of the night... But now I'm usually able to get back to sleep. I definitely feel that my mood is improved and things that used to Worry me, do not bother me as much as they used to. I'm still taking trazodone on occasion... But like 1/2 to 1/4 the dose I used to take. I'm hoping my sleep issues still continue to improve.
  2. I hope my sleep problems go away. It’s been almost 3 weeks... (but only 1.5 weeks at 10 mg). i was hoping they’d be gone by now. I’m not really sure I’m feeling any benefit yet. How long do i wait until i give up? the last few nights I’ve been taking 50 mg of trazodone when i wake up around 2am. Last night i still woke up on and off from 4am to 7am too. Trazodone usually works pretty well but i feel groggy/out of it the next day... so i don’t really like taking it.
  3. Should i stay on the lexapro a bit longer to give it a chance? I really feel like it is causing me to wake up easily during the night.
  4. So I’ve had trouble sleeping for 20+ years. I’ve tried improving my sleep hygiene and exercise, which i mostly adhere to but it only helps a little. It’s primarily been trouble getting to sleep. It didn’t get really bad until about 1.5 years ago. Doc gave me trazodone (50-100mg) which helped a lot... on followup she suggested i try an ssri like lexapro for anxiety (which i guess i have- i do worry about a lot of stuff that i really shouldn’t). I put off taking lexapro for the last 1.5 years. I’d take trazodone maybe once per week on average although if i was really stressed maybe up to 3 times per week. It makes me pretty groggy the next day so i dont like taking it. A few months ago the anxiety symptoms got worse. I would be able to fall asleep just fine, but I started waking up 2-3 hrs before my alarm on occasion. This would last for a few days up to 1.5 weeks then I’d be better... but then something would stress me out and the sleep problems would return. I tried taking trazodone or ambien cr but I’d still wake up after 4 - 5 hrs. So 2.5 weeks ago i decided to try lexapro. I started at 2.5 mg and tapered up to 10 mg. I’ve now been on 10 mg (taken in the morning) for 1 week. Ever since i started the lexapro I’ve been waking up 2-3 hours before my alarm. I can fall asleep just fine. For the first 2 weeks i was on vacation from work so i could usually get back to sleep after 1-2 hrs and sleep in and feel rested. But I’m back to work this week and not able to sleep in, so i feel exhausted. To make things worse, my doc moved to a different state 1 week ago. So I’m in the process of trying to get setup with who’s taking over for her. I guess I’m posting for any advice... do you think my sleep issues have been worsened from the lexapro? Should i hold course and hope the lexapro helps? Has anyone with similar symptoms been helped by lexapro? thank you!
