  1. I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails. When we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship. But it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields. When the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This Day We Fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid You Stand, Men of the West! King Aragorn speech to his men at the Black Gate in The Trilogy-Lord of the Rings by Tolkien
  2. I take 200mg of Trazodone at bed for sleep it also help my Depression.
  3. I agree with Newbie that there is a ton of info on any subject on the web. But, please ask for some help also. That is what the asst. principle or adminstrator is for. Remember that the only foolish question is the one you never asked.?? Don't be afraid to ask others for advice as well. A wise person surrounds him/her self with wise counsel.
  4. I have been voluntarily admitted at least 10 times and always felt safe while I was inpatient. I have always left feeling much better, secure, happier and more self assurred. The program usually lasted around 2 weeks for me which was barely enough but insurance wanted me out as soon as possible.DUH, You'd think they would want that decision to be between You and the Pdoc rather than between them and the Pdoc? Just go in with the attitude--I am doing this for myself and when leaving I'll be much better. It may seem odd-going to classes, group therapy, art, etc. but they all work together to HELP YOU BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE. Make sure to attend all classes and go with the program while there. You will learn so many new ways of coping,self-help, the need of a support group, etc..
  5. I am just the opposite- Iove sunny weather. I do better thru depression in the bright sunny weather. I live in South East Georgia, USA our Air Conditioners start coming on in April. It was 90 here yesterday and mostly sunny. I stay outside in it most all spring and summer. I even buy the bright daylight bulbs for my homes lighting just to help my mood stay better, less depressed, during the Winter. The bright light keeps me far less depressed, therefore much better with depression.
  6. Count your blessings, not your problems Consciously cultivating thankfulness is a journey of the soul, one that begins when we look around us and see the positive effects that gratitude creates. -M J Ryan-

  10. When I have gotten that way " not wanting to do anything" I get more depressed. I told my Pdoc and He added a med that has made all the difference for me! Plus having me to do self help CBT workbooks. It got me off the computer and I wanted to get into my hobbies, new projects around the home, and Outside. Spring coming, and now summer, I start one project - finish it and go to another. You have to get out of the room. A great self-help book is the AA workbook. I don't drink, yet the workbook helped me greatly, and inspired me with its on version of CBT. It's available on Amazon. See how it works for You. Get up and Go. You have the desire for better or you wouldn't have written about it. There is better for YOU out there, find it. GOD BLESS,
  11. We become what we think about. Now, it stand to teason that a person who is thinking about a concrete and worth while goal is going to reach it, because that's what he's thinking about. And we become what we think about. Conversely, the person who has no goal, who doesn't know where he's going, and whose thoughts must therefore be thoughts of confusion, anxiety, fear and worry---his live becomes one of frustration, fear, anxiety and worry. And if he thinks about nothing------- he becomes nothing. You see, the human mind is the last great, unexplored continent on earth. It contains riches beyond our wildest dreams. It will return anything we want to plant. Now, you might say, if that's true, why don't people use their minds more? Well, I think they've figured out an answer to that one, too. Our mind comes as standard equipment at birth. It's free And things that are given to us for nothing , we place little value. Earl Nightingale
  12. Good friends are like stars.....You don't always see then, but you know they are always there. Keep Dreaming ----unknown---
  13. TODAY IS FATHERS' DAY SO HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL You're teaching a lesson each day that you live; Your actions are blazing a trail That children will follow for good or for ill; You can help them or cause them to fail. --Bosch--
  14. I saw a large painting of a Lighthouse with its beam searching out across stormy seas at night. The caption under it read, You have to think on this one to get its meaning --A Man that knows not what harbor he seeks --NO matter the strength of the light, will find it-- -unknown-
  15. I also am on Abilfy. What really turned my depression around after 10 years of trying various combinations of all the SSRI's. Plus changing Pdocs several times. The P doc put me on a MAOI -which I immediatelyI have had great success with. I now take Marplan (MAOI), Abilify, Trazodone for sleep, and Xanax as needed for anxiety. I have stayed with this Pdoc since 04. He cares If your P doc is not helping you, I always made a change, myself. You can't be afraid of making a change in meds nor Pdocs. You need and deserve the best care possible. Hoping the best for You.
  16. I take another MAOI called MARPLAN along with klonopin, xanax(as needed), trazodone and abilify. It"s a great combination for me. Been on a MAOI for the last 9 years.
  17. I have had a mixture of Positive and Negative. Those that had been "close friends" just kind of phased me out of their lives. Call only when they need something. Those that wheren't very close have become very supportive and close thru the years. I was in the P Hospital once and a fellow Christian working there took me aside and could not believe what a Christian would be doing there. Just this past weekend I opened up to another Christian, I hunt with and He just wanted me to believe I was healed. Even when JESUS walked the Earth every one was not healed. I mean I've Prayed and Asked, but I do stay pretty good on the Meds--GOD has given men knowledge to manufacture. So I accept if I'm healed thru meds or miraculous, GOD is still GOD!!!!! I teach the Senior Adult class at church and they encourage, pray and even though most have never been Depressed, accept me. They accept, even when I'm going thru a hard time or hospitalized. I even teach the teens with a person who is Bipolar and they accept us both, as we are. I have been broken hearted over the friends I've lost. Encourged by the ones' I've gained. One can't give up, we must strive on.

  22. Time does have a way of allowing us to see deferently. Change around us takes place and what was once very important is not anymore. If you need HELP please see your Pdoc or get one. The Pdoc nows more about P meds than a General Doc does.

  25. I thought about doing the same ......thought it would be great, sounds very good. It was at Emory in Atlanta, Ga. A top research Hospital. I asked my Pdoc about it and He said no way did I need to do such a thing. You would be part of the research and you may or may not receive meds??? You could be the part of the study that receives the sugar pill.!!!! Talk to Your Pdoc first, Please!!!!
