  1. I have a great Wife --She is my friend, confidant and super supportive. She encourages me to go get help when I need it. We have shared losses, bad times, good times, positive times and of couse the negative times when I have Depression so bad I can only cry. No matter what comes our way she is always supportive of me as well I am of Her! Oh, by the way--we have been together for 37 years. 20 of the last years I have had severe depression and anxiety.
  2. I drove 80 miles one way to get a Friend out of the Hospital.
  3. Hi CesselessChase, Just wanted to encourage you for today with a Poem The Road Not Taken Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim Because it was grassy and wanted wear, Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I marked the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost
  4. They are an old type of drugs that where very popular in the 40 - 70's. They are only used now for those that are drug resistant to the newer SSRI's and other types of drugs . There is a newer form of one in a patch called Emsam--worked well for me. I was on it for a year or more. But I work outside alot therefore sweat and had trouble with it staying on. There is no sedation just relief for me. No lost of sharpness if any thing, You have more energy and are more alert. Hope this Helps
  5. You might want to look at MAOI's. They carry a Very strict diet, but for me it is worth it. I was on a couple before finding the right one for me. I take Marplan for about 9 years now. I follow the diet very rigidly, because the times I didn't, I was rushed to the hospital. Hope You have good luck in finding the right med!!
  6. I'm having all the symtoms but don't know yet if it is Tardive Dyskinesia. I am having lots of involuntary leg and involuntary tongue movement. I have been taking a MAOI for over 9 years. Abilify for 2 years. Does anyone else have this problem?
  7. I have gotten up with joy in my Heart! So far I've vacuumed and mopped a few rooms in the house. Now waiting for my friend to call to tell me what time to meet him to find a place to hunt in the woods. Fall is in the air ---Cool and nice this morning. Will be a good day to walk around in the woods looking for Deer and Hog sign. Love to Hunt.
  8. I'm like Starr - the regular xanax helped me more than the XR when I was going thru a very hard time. I only take it as needed now. I never felt like I was addicted to it, either. I was also taking the same dosage as Starr as well. Now if I need it I usually take .25 or if really having a bad time .50. the .25 usually works for me.
  9. My intention is to enjoy life today. No regrets allowed

  11. May have given this one before, but it bears repeating----- If we're really serious about walking the talk all the time, we have to focus on the small stuff. -Eric Harvey and Al Lucia
  12. I was on Parnate at one time I followed the diet very strictly. Ir worked well for me for 3 months had a reaction and was hospitalized to come off the Parnate and onto Marplan. Marplan has worked well for me, I wish I could change to a cheaper drug, it is very expensive but it works. So I pay for it. I 've been on Marplan and the MAOI diet since 04. You can survive on the diet, though it takes some doing. Wish You Well as You adjust to this med.

  14. I always have seen a good pschycatrist for meds and a good pschcologist for intense CBT training and counseling. It has worked well for me, over time.
  15. Knowing your peace of mind is up to YOU,not the world, is the most powerful and secure state of mind you can achieve. - Dr. Lee Jampolsky-
  16. All I can say is for me-- Seroquel 300mg helped me both for sleep, severe depression and anxiety. I came off it after a couple of years, yet can take it again if the need arises. Hope that helps.
  17. I was on many different combinations before the Pdoc considered me as treatment resistant. The SSRI's would work for awhile, then either slowly quit working or overnight they would drop me back into the pit of depression. I too was considering ECT. The Pdoc thought I should try a MAOI first. That has made a difference in me for almost 10 years now. WARNING! The MAOI's have a diet you must stick with very strictly. Just about any waiver from the Diet has caused me to wind up in ER. So a WORD of Warning IF you can't stay on the diet don't bother to start a MAOI.
  18. Welcome Erica(BPDPeach)!!!! Good to have another from Ga.on here.

  21. The Sail One ship drives east and another drives west With the selfsame winds that blow Tis the set of the sails And not the gales Which tell us the way to go. Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate As we voyage along through life Tis the set of the soul That decides its goal And not the calm or strife. George Mueller
  22. With the Depression, I, as well as most all of us here have felt at one time or another the same as you. You'll find many here that will encourage You. We care for YOU. I also have to wonder if you need to make a change in Pdocs or Meds. Please consider it as the FIRST Option. NEVER GIVE UP, KEEP GOING
  23. I have to say a big THANK YOU, as well Taunt 1. I have been at it now for 19 years. In this fight called Depression Finding the right meds, exercise, postive thoughts, CBT have all worked together to make me much better than I was. I am on a MAOI called Marplan. It has made a huge difference for me, in this fight of depression. I thought earlier in the year, since I am doing so well, I could drop way down on the med. But I was wrong, almost had to go back in the hospital. I went back up on the Marplan and started doing well again. I thank my Pdoc for letting me try it, but He was right, I need to stay on my Meds. As I look around, Life could be much worse. Have you ever been on a MAOI ?? Many Pdocs don't use them because they are so diet restritive. I stay on the diet very strictly and have done well on Marplan for 10 years now. Never give up, keep fighting the fight. As in the words of CHURCHILL "If going thru Hell,- Keep going."
  24. I have been in several forms of CBT for around 10 years now. My therapist told me I had learned enough to do it on my own. Which I do. Yet I have to go back at times to relearn again how to take my thoughts captive. CBT for me has been a combination of both counseling and workbooks. That has made it work for me. CBT forces you to take Your Thoughts, Self Talk, and actions and hold them captive for a moment it time. You can then make a truthfull examination of what they are. Pro-Con, Truthful-False, Constructive-Destrutive, etc. before You say them aloud or act upon them.
