    Snow shoveling today.  My core is like the Pilsbury Doughboy's core.  I won't laugh when someone pokes me though.  I'll probably bite them.

    I lived in New England for 20 or so years. We learned that ice is not friendly to cars or trucks. Cars get 1 or 2 wheel drive and trucks get 2 or 4 wheel drive. Ice is the great equalizer. It just makes 1-4 wheels spin and go nowhere. I've done the drive with chains and/or studded snow tires. I'll definitely take the studded snow tires if I HAVE to drive on it. At the end of the day though the best way to travel on ice is with ice skates.... 😁
    We actually have the sun peaking through the clouds today.

    I see ads for nutrisystem.  Out of everything I've tried as far as diets there is no way anyone could pay me enough to eat that stuff again.  The pizza I don't care how bad the worst pizza you've ever had was try their pizza so awful!  Worst "pizza" on earth!

    Reminds me of the joke about the difference between incentive and motivation.  'Incentive' is when the boss says, "Do a good job and you will get a bonus/raise."  'Motivation' is when the boss says, "Do a bad job and you will be fired."

    Yup!  It also makes any type of shoe or boot on your foot 'spin' too!  It is a toss up whether it is more difficult to drive or walk on ice.
    On the news last night they showed a video clip of a 4-wheel drive vehicle sliding sideways down an iced-over suburban street.  Almost looked like it was floating down a river.  They also showed a video of a family walking out of their house, across the porch, and down their front steps.  The camera must have been above the door.  It had previously rained and frozen, and the steps were coated with glass-clear ice.  As each person got to the top step, their feet flew out from under them in every direction, and they 'train wrecked' to the bottom of the steps!  I hope everyone was OK!
    Oh, and ice skates? ... me!?   That would be a major 'train wreck'!  🤣

    We got snow yesterday! Fairly rare occasion. Maybe an inch or two. Just enough to cover roofs, bushes, and tops of cars. Melted on the street quick. It was melting and then refroze last night. It's gone this morning and surprisingly no black ice. Cold and windy for the next few days with overnight in the mid 20s... 🥶

    Good summary.  I think any mainstream diet would agree with you .  Too, like you said, some of the diets are controlled by proprietary diet food that are part of the package.  And that's just business as usual.  As you have, with some thought most people could plan a less carb/less sugar starter diet for themselves.  Yours is a more structured diet because you have specific nutrient goals. 
    The first of the only two books I've read on diet was written by a standup comic and political activist named d**k Gregory, written in the 60s.  "Diet For Folks Who Like To Eat," I think it was titled.  It wasn't that great, but he did relate in the beginning that he had tried to lose weight first by cutting out all meat.  The public wasn't well informed on diet and the idea that the fat on meat was a major contributor to fatness was popular.  He said he ate only vegetables, lots of them, like potatoes--probably with gravy since that wouldn't be meat.  And he got fatter than he was before the diet.  Then he started to look into nutrition.  But yeah, it wasn't that long ago that most people thought cutting out meat was the best way to lose weight.

    To maintain weight I do a method more like Weight Watchers.  I don't really count anything or pay attention to anything other than the scale.  Really I eat most things and watch the scale.  I eat like an average kid but just eat less.  It's the only way I can keep my mind through this.  We'll pretend there is some mind left to keep.🙄

    Yes those are staple foods for me. Keeping your protein levels as high as recommended on the diet we are using is difficult without it. I also add yogurt into that. Some notes on that.
    The packaged tuna makes a quick, easy, affordable, and clean snack. I buy them in bulk or on sale at the grocery store. That's about 20g of clean protein.
    Now on the shakes. I buy 2 types. The first is for post workout recovery. Whey protein isolate. It's super clean, almost no fat or carbs, and fast digesting. Also 20-25g. Then standard whey protein concentrate. Good for anytime 20g of protein that absorbs at a medium rate.
    Yogurt I use 10g minimum of protein and sugar must be less than 10g. I like the newer ones that have 15-20g of protein. If I need some carbs I add a spoonful of jam.
    Protein bars. We use them quite regulary, especially as late night snacks to keep from eating junk food snacks. You have to be really careful with these "healthy" bars. Most of them are not healthy and are slightly better than just eating a candy bar. Most of the ones we get replace sugar with erythritol, which really keeps net carbs down. They have 15-20g protein and less than 10g of fat. Those are slow digesting and great for evening or afternoon snack.
    All of those would also be suitable for pre-diabetic and possibly stage 1 or 2 diabetic since the carbs and sugars are low and cause a little glucose spike.
    We're working off a goal of close to 1-1 ratio of protein to body weight.

    Just eat like you're a diabetic. A diabetic diet is a great tool for weigh loss. Its pretty simple. Low carbs, lots of veggies, lots of protein, lots of water. I lost 40 lbs in a few months when I was first diagnosed. I used to LOVE carbs and sugars. Drank soda everyday. Once I was diagnosed I changed everything right away. Food for life is my theory. Netflix and Amazon prime have some great documentaries on eating for life. I used to love to snack. Now everything I eat I have to remember affects my blood sugar and how I feel.
