  1. Thank you StoniumFrog, it is reassuring to know you can relate to the way I feel and that other people feel the same. You are right when you say I need to take it slow and spend time doing the things that brought me joy, but I have an incredibly stressful job that I know is making me worse. I work as a mechanical engineer, which I know is a good job, but I hate the pressure that my boss and colleagues put on me, to the point where I dread going in and actually have panic attacks. This is the next thing that I know I'm going to feel guilty about; I know I'm going to need time off work, but I have no idea how to go about doing this. Thank you Althor, that's how I feel most of the time, I just can't look forward to the future.
  2. Thank you so much for saying that GSpolar. I totally know what you mean. I am a very empathetic person. Too much so at times as I often find myself feeling down after I witness another person or animal suffering. I never realised that this might be because I've experienced feeling so low. Realreason, Thank you so much for this reply. This is what I fear the most. My parents who are the nicest people in the world and who gave me a childhood most people on the planet could only dream of, finding out that I'm now depressed, after all they'd done. This is the main thing I feel guilty about. StoniumFrog, thank you for your comment and advice. I do have hobbies and activities that make me feel good, but sometimes when I get really down, I find that I don't have the energy to do anything and can only collapse into bed. Does anyone else find this?
  3. Hey guys, I've been depressed for a long time now, and it's finally gotten to the point where I don't think I can take it anymore. But I've been reading people's stories on this website and they've made me feel really guilty for feeling the way I do. I haven't had any traumatic experiences happen to me like a death in the family or a divorce, and yet I still feel terribly depressed all the time. Can anyone else relate to what I mean?
