  1. Hi. I just got back on Citlalopram after switching to Escitalopram on Dec 8 of last year. I was on Citalopram for many years for anxiety and I was pretty much stable with bouts of anxiety here and there but was always able to bounce back. I experienced a very anxious event in early Dec which prompted me to try out Escitalopram to see if it would help me more effectively. I was disappointed after almost 10 total weeks on it that it wasn't very effective with my anxiety. I switched back to Citalopram about a week ago and will be upping my dosage to 40mg which was what I was on when I made the switch. I'm praying that it will help me this 2nd time around. Has anyone experienced success the second time around? Any encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  2. So was Escitalopram not working for you even at the increased dosage? I may go back to my old meds Citalopram which I was successful with for many years, although I did have temporary bouts of anxiety with that as well, but I was able to get over it faster.
  3. Thanks for your feedback Orso. Are you still on escitalopram and how are you doing now? Thanks again.
  4. Hi. I'm in my second week of 30mg of escitalopram and I've had some mixed results. I feel it has helped a bit, but I still feel some anxiety bouts at times during the day, especially when I'm at work. I was on 20mg previously for 6 weeks and had limited improvement so my doc decided to up the dosage which he says is not uncommon. I was wondering if anyone has been or is on 30mg and above of escitalopram and how has been going? Have you noticed an improvement and how long did it take to experience these improvements. Any feedback is helpful. Thank you very much and God bless you.
  5. Hi Gelo, I started out on 10mg of citalopram, then went ot 15mg, and have been at 20mg for a month now. I have noticed anxiety creeping back in, and I'm always wondering if I'm crazy. I have also noticed the fears of going crazy coming back. Even as I type this I just feel 'off.' However, my doctor also said they like people to be on this dosage for a couple months because then you can really see the effects. Hope you feel better soon. Hazzy I'll see what my doc recommends. I read on another thread that someone was instructed by a well known psychiatrist in their area who's also connected to a medical research center that 20mg is actually a standard dose and that 30-40mg is recommended to get the real benefits. 30mg is an option that my doc said he may try so we'll see what happens. Hopefully I respond well to the added dosage, free from any side effects. God bless and thanks. Thanks Gelo, I will try and keep my head up and stick this out. I have a medication appointment next month, so we'll see how I'm feeling then. Maybe a higher dose is what I need. Hi Hazzy. Have you ever been on escitalopram (lexapro)? It's supposed to be the improved version of citalopram, although that could be relative to every person. I was on citalopram for a long time and I had a major bout of anxiety in early december, and my doc and I decided to try out the escitalopram. I've been on it for going on 6 weeks now on 20mg and it's been mixed results for me. Some days I feel like I've improved and other days I don't and still feel anxiety creeping up on me throughout the day. My doc may up my dosage to 30mg. He also mentioned possibly putting me back on citalopram since it worked well for me for so long. I'm hoping that the higher dosage of escitalopram will do the trick.

  7. Hi. I know this thread is really old. But I too am on 20mg of escitalopram (generic lexapro) for going on 6 weeks now and have had mixed results. I've been told I should wait out the full 8 weeks for my blood levels to be up at the right level but I feel like maybe I should have felt some consistent positive effects by now. I'm not sure but reamin hopeful that the meds will kick in soon. I'm seeing my doc in a couple of days and he said he may increase me to 30mg if the 20mg is not working well. How did the increase to 30mg work for you, if you still remember that far back? Thank you!
  8. Hey everyone. Checking in and I hope everyone is doing ok and hanging in there. I'm almost at the end of my 5th week at 20mg and still experiencing some anxiety here in there throughout the day. Like Shiz a lot of it is in the morning. I seem to be more stable and relaxed in the evenings for some reason. I wish it would carry over to the days. I can't really say I've had significant improvement. Some improvement but again I still feel some anxiety, some nervous, anxious feelings and restlessness. I've been told to wait out the full 8 weeks to get the full benefits so I'm trying to stay positive but it's tough. Seeing my psychiatrist this week and he may up my dosage. I'm not sure how that's gonna work out but I pray that it benefits me if he does do that. Take care everyone and God bless us all.
  9. Hi. I used to be on Celexa for a very long time and had great success with it. I switched to Lexapro about 6 weeks ago (been on 20mg for 5 weeks now), and although I've had some improvements I still feel anxiety at times throughout the days. I have days where I feel pretty good and days where I'm like anxious most of the day. My doc mentioned possibly upping my dosage to 30mg of Lexapro or switching back to Celexa. Has anyone switched back to Celexa and had success with it? Or upped their dosage of Lexapro and had success? Thanks for your feedback and help. Take care.
  10. Hi Mr. Kane. How are you feeling today. I hope you're doing well. As for me, I'm doing ok. Not 100% yet but some improvement but some up and down days as well espeically since I went back to work from the holidays. I'm going into my 5th week at 20mg and praying for more improvement and consistency. Take care and God bless.
  11. Hi Mr. Kane. I hope you're doing ok. I've never experienced anything like this but I'm not sure if you're body and brain need to re-adjust to the meds again and or build itself back up. Did you take your meds that night? Have you spoken to your doc if she's had any patients who have experienced that and what to expect? I'm praying for you. Hang in there and stay positive. Take care.
  12. Thanks. Good to know I'm not alone in this feeling. I hope and pray that we all reach that level of comfort and peace we all want and stay there. Take care and God bless.
  13. Hey BrotherZoot. I hear ya. I felt really good yesterday and actualy felt normal again, and it all happened at work, which I was dreading about. Today, I felt just ok, not as good and felt some anxiety throughout the day. This up and down thing is really frustrating. This is my 5th week on Escitalopram, 4th week on 20mg. I'm just praying for more improvement and consistency in the positive feelings I get. I wonder if this is normal. Thanks and take care.
  14. Thanks for the encouragement Shiznit. How long before you started to feel better and did you have ups and downs and days when you felt you took a step backward before eventually getting better? Also, how are yo doing with your recovery and medication. Praying you are doing well and responding nicely to your treatment. Take care and thanks again for your replies. God bless.
  15. Thanks. That's a strong possibility that being back at work has caused the new anxiety attack. I'm hoping this is just temporary and that I continue to improve with the meds as the days go by. Question: what do you mean by Escitalopram is against anxiety? Thanks again.
