  1. Good for you, I’m sure the road was long getting there but very much worth it!
  2. Total sh*t day. I’m really hoping some of you had a good day today and were able to enjoy at least part of it...
  3. Yes! I notice this happens with me too! I tell myself- I need interaction with people, I need to find friends in this new town we moved to. It can help my depressed thoughts. Then I realize- it can very much be like the grass is greener. I’m afraid to hop the fence into finding new friends as the other side of the fence can be astroturf. So is loneliness better?
  4. One other thing I forgot about that helped me quite a bit several years ago, was I taught myself to cook. Nothing fancy, but I found a site called “Allrecipes” and started making some of the recipes that sounded good. I also bought pioneer woman’s cookbook as she shows you step by step what to do. It’s something to do to keep your mind occupied if you are in your house.
  5. I agree. If you feel any better, even a little bit when you get out, then I say do it.
  6. I’m sorry to everyone struggling this morning. Trying to have a good day, but it’s still too early to tell. I sometimes feel like we get a blank slate when we wake up, with potential to feel good, but then, like usual, the dark cloud moves in.
  7. One thing that has helped me a bit was reading. Even an easy read like something fiction can take your mind off things if you are able to get engrossed in the story. I’m not normally a big reader, but tv around here has become pathetic. Or even audible books? Another thing I started doing was bird watching. It sounds so silly, but I have now put up bird feeders. It gives me a reason to get out of bed in the morning to make sure they have their food for the day.
  8. It’s not beneficial to think that way. The thing is, I know this, yet I do still do it. I’m sure I’m not alone here.
  9. Thank you! I wasn’t sure if it was a common thing. I’m sorry you struggle as well. It’s awful to feel alone. Especially when there are people in your life, yet they aren’t supportive or there for you. I wish I could turn off my brain sometimes as it is not benefiting me to think so catastrophically. Probably why I reach for the wine far too often. Not good either.
  10. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this! Curious if anyone else gets a weird uneasy feeling when the sun goes down? I don’t know what the deal is, maybe it’s anxiety or depression. I start feeling uneasy and I really start thinking about death for some reason. Not just my own mortality, but loved ones as well. I think I need to go back on my antidepressants.
  11. Hello- I see you posted this question a while ago, but in case you are wondering, I had great success with Viibryd. I was on it for probably 5 years before I made the decision to quit all my meds. (That’s a whole other story) I found it better than Zoloft in the fact that it did not give me sexual side effects like Zoloft did, and Zoloft was extremely helpful for me. I have come to the realization I need to go back on antidepressants- and I would totally go back on Viibryd if possible. I hope this helps a bit. I also hope you found something to help you if not Viibryd.
  12. Feeling fairly good this morning. Hoping it continues throughout the day. Maybe I can avoid the sadness that usually takes over later in the day. I just want to thank everyone here for their supportive and caring posts. Reading some of the posts makes me truly believe there are some thoughtful people in the world.
  13. I think I need to go back on antidepressants.
  14. You know, I do notice a slight forgetfulness, if that's the right word.. I noticed it on Zoloft too, so I'm not sure if it's a side effect that many of them have..? It is pretty weird. I remember other people complaining about similar instances. Hopefully it will eventually get a little better..
  15. Hi there, Sorry you are going through this.. I gained 20 pounds while I was taking effexor for 6 months. I finally got off it, and have now started Pristiq. (Not sure about this one yet, but so far it doesn't seem as bad as effexor for me.) I don't know if the meds cause the weight gain, but all I do know is I was hungry all the time when I was on it. I could not stop eating. That said, I think we each react differently to them. I lost weight on Zoloft, but have read that a lot of people gain. It sucks!!! Talk to your doctor about it and maybe they can find you a different one which is a better fit. I'm still trying to lose my effexor weight, it is slowly coming off. I wish I didn't need meds, but at this point I'd rather take one and work hard to keep weight off. Good luck! Don't give up! :)
  16. Hi sheepy, I'm only on day 10 right now, so I'm thinking I haven't received the full effects yet. Actually I'm hoping I haven't. I feel okay so far, I definitely feel a bit of a decrease in anxiety, but I'm really hoping to feel even better. What dose are you on? Maybe an increase would help? I'm not sure how the doses are, I'm still pretty new to it and I don't see my doctor until later this week. I did have a similar problem with zoloft though. It worked great for me the first time, but when I tried to go back on after getting off, it wasn't as beneficial as the first time. I hope you are feeling a bit better now though!! :)
  17. Territorial??!!! Auto correct!!!!! I meant tasteofmetal!!! Whoops!!!
  18. That's too bad Miche31... I wish there was another way to find out which med would work best other than this trial and error stuff... :( I'm sure you will find one that will work for you...:) How are you feeling so far territorial? So far it's okay for me. I feel a little bit better, but hope the full effects haven't quite kicked in yet. How are the side effects for you? :)
  19. Nice to hear Pristiq seems to be working better for you than Lexapro did! :) Hope the anxiety subsides for you though.. That's my biggest issue. Even though I'm only on day 4, my sleep has been kind of broken.. I hope it goes away for us! It's good to hear positive things about this med!
  20. Right! Fingers crossed it works well for the both of us! :) So far I feel pretty good. I've had a little bit less of an appetite, but not sure how long it will last. Just hoping my anxiety mellows a bit on it.. Other than that, no other side effects just yet...How about you? I hope you feel well! :)
  21. Thanks! I wondered about prozac too, but I think my doctor is hesitant to prescribe another ssri because of the sexual side effects I had in the past. So, I started Pristiq last night. So far, I feel okay, but of course I'm on day one. My doctor had to give approval to my insurance as well! I guess there is no generic either? My one month supply was $50.00... Much more than the others I have taken. I hope it works well for you! (Sorry zoloft wasn't a good fit..) Keep me posted on how you're feeling.. :-)
  22. I gained 20 pounds in 6 months while taking Effexor. I felt hungry all the time and just wanted to eat! I also didn't notice much relief for my anxiety on it. I was not an Effexor success story. :(
