  1. I take a benzo because my depression completely sleep deprives me, i would get no sleep without something. I went on trazodone for a while instead of benzos, but i wasnt on an anti depressant then. My neurofeedback doctor told me if I was to take antidepressants I should use the trazodone for sleep also because i would be using two serotonin re uptake inhibitors..... I think it would have been fine as they were low doses.... but i didnt do it. Im on 37,5mg effexor for almost two weeks I feel a slight improvement moodwise wondering if i should go up to75mg with the sleep issue. I have tried 75mg on the first day i started 37,5mg and i had to take more benzo to sleep..... and now even on 37,5mg the usual dose doesnt seem to be doing the job. I dont feel anything, but thats due to my depression, had that physical feeling absence with many things before I started any AD. It;s just weird, i dont feel sleepy ever, i just fall asleep because of the medcation. I wish i knew how to solve my depression, so i could just get on with it. I'm lost, it's been over a year now of just surviving, zombie-like.
  2. i meant if i go above 75mg. anyways dont know if that passes with some days or not, and it scares me having to augment the benzo dose...
  3. I've only read about it. Is it as effective as benzos for sleep ? Anyway, ive managed to lower my benzo to the "normal" dosage again. i just want something to work for depression. I have trouble not augmenting my dosage for sleep if i go above 7,5mg effexor. The weird thing is ive only been on effexor for 10 days. from the first day it kind of lifted me a bit. Does this mean with time going by its effects are bound to keep getting better or should i really not expect much at such a low dose ? the thing that gets me is that I noticed it straight away, and my depression is failry heavy, having lost feelings like tiredness, sleep, internal phyical feelings, feeling anything on orgasm (all this before i started on any antidepressant, so its form the depression) for example, when i sleep i dont ever fedel sleepy, i just take the benzo and eventually fall asleep. as ananti depressant is mirtazapine not effective ?
  4. already taking it in the morning. I will try and get back to my regular dose gradually. Thanks
  5. Hello Everyone, I've been with MDD for over a year now and been sleeping on benzos or trazodone thourghout. I just recently finished neuroffedback and altough it didn't really offer me any relief depression wise the therapist says im much more sensative to drugs now. I I was on effexor xr 37,5mg for one week in july and felt better right away and kept on sleeping with 1mg of Ethyl loflazepate which is the benzo im on. otherwise no sleep. (the first day of that week I actually did 75mg effexor and didn't sleep with my usual dosage of the benzo, so on the next day, already on37,5 effexor I did 2mg of the benzo , when i usually take only 1mg, which is half a pill) now I'm back on effexor (5days) on 37,5mg as I note it has a therapeutic effect at such a low dose and almost instantaneously, though this time i took 75mg for the first two days as I wanted to do what my pdoc said and take 75mg of effexor throughtout. I had to triple my benzo for sleep those two days so I will be keeping at 37,5mg (note that in the week in july despite not getting sleepy I actually fell asleep righ after the week of effexor at37,5mg) and now even on 37,5mg of effexor I can only sleep not tripling but doubling my benzo, so a full pill which is 2mg of Ethyl loflazepate. I've read effexor causas insomnia or worsens it (since I already have it big time without the antidepressant due to the depression) will it pass over some weeks ? do you think I will be able to slip back to 1 mg instead of 2 of the benzo. I know it's strange for the drug too work at such low levels considering my depression but it does, maybe it has something to do with the neurofeedback. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Yes, I already take it in the morning. and notice slight mood improvement. However, my depression also has me physically numb, from not feeling anyhting on orgasm, to not feeling tired or energized, the feeling of being hot or cold...etc I also notice my pupils slightly dilated, which is probably normal in ssri/snris I try and post in the effexor forum, thanks

  8. well I had an external consultaiton at the hospital where TMS is on trial and after a long talk the doctor recomended try a second antidepressant, he also said the problem with TMS is results dont seem to last. I;m currently only on a benzodiazepine (morfex) 15mg a night for sleep and some natural supplements a homeopathic doc recomended, I actually am better psychologically and not feeling so in the dumps since I stopped my tryciclic 1 month ago. This doctor recommended I come off my benzo, which I agree with, and use Trazodone wich is a tetraciclic anti-dep for sleep instead and recoomended I shoulg start Effexor. I feel better this last month, Bu tI still get no natural sleep, still have secxual anehdonia (already had it due to depression before any meds) and my sense/sensations are virtually non existent still, although i felt slightly better this last month coming off Anafranil, a tryciclic, and starting the natural supplements........ Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated. Thanks
  9. no, I just searched it now, its not approved yet, might still be a while until it gets approval...... I've got a external consultaiton on the 10th of April to see if I can start TMS. I've pretty hopefull it will help me.
  10. I think he is stating his depression symptoms before TMS Ladysmurf. ABYSS do you get any natural sleep ? did you notice sleep diferences when entering/during your depression....was your depression triggered by an event(s) or what i more endogenous ?
  11. ABYSS how long had you been struggling with depression before TMS and what symptoms did you experience from your depression back then ? I dont think I would be able to go on ECT, TMS is where I think I draw the line. Thanks for your input
  12. great to hear you are feeling better. Please let me know if it also affects your sleep and how you feel when treatment is over. Take Care!
  13. I will hopefully have to start benzo withdrawal one day, Been on them for 6 months now, stopped the anti depressants as they did nothing...... kind of figuring what to do next...
  14. Has anyone tried this ? I'm considering TMS but its still not availalbe where I live. Any experiences out there with ECT ? I would like to hear them. thank you!
