  1. Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well. I just made a video where I go through my experience with mental illness, so if you're feeling down or hopeless, feel free to check it out. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=mtUM5TrHryc

  3. Hey everyone. I haven't been online in so long, but I just wanted to share this video that I made about my OCD. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtUM5TrHryc
  4. Wow, haven't been on this site in awhile! Hope you are all doing well. :) In case you're in the same situation that I was in, don't be afraid to increase your dosage if you feel it's necessary! It can make all the difference in the world!
  5. Well I was on 10 mgs for 3 months, and I've been on 20 mgs for 2 months now. For me, I'd say it took about 3 weeks on the 20 mgs to not feel unnecessary drowsiness anymore. It's weird because my psychiatrist said it's very rare for people to feel drowsy on Lexapro, yet that doesn't appear to be the case for most people.
  6. Oh yeah, believe me, it did. Most of the time I couldn't even keep my eyes open during school. But trust me, it does get better. I never thought it would, but now I'm only tired when I need to be.
  7. Hey everyone, just wanted to remind everyone that is struggling to just hang in there! Today I realised that I haven't been on this site in a few weeks, which is remarkable in a way because when I was extremely anxious months ago, I would be here on for hours on end just to seek hope that everything would be okay. For those currently on 10 mgs of Lexapro and not receiving much relief, don't be afraid to ask for an increase! I did so, and I starting noticing changes within as little as one week. Pretty high dose for me considering I'm only 17 years of age, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Good luck to all and I'll try be on from time to time to help others.
  8. Hey everyone, I made a short video about my experience a few weeks ago, and I just thought I'd share it with you all! I'm not quite sure if we're allowed to share links on this website, if not, I can delete this comment if needed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnelwjLz1s0&list=UU-D9FowQ4rdcT_esOny8QXg&index=1
  9. Can anyone suggest any other supplements apart from the one's that I listed that I could take? And just to refer to the original question, do supplements take weeks to kick in like antidepressants do? Roughly the same, longer, shorter?
  10. Exactly 3 weeks on 20mg tonight, and I'm feeling pretty good. Not at 100% yet, but I can function at school again. Won't surprise me if I see more improvements.
  11. Exactly 2 weeks on 20mg tonight, and still seeing remarkable improvements! Really can't wait for another month or so.
  12. Oh and I'm taking them with 20mg of Lexapro, if that makes any difference.
  13. Hey all, I'll keep this nice and brief. Do supplements take many weeks to kick in like antidepressants do? I am currently taking fish-oil tablets, vitamin D tablets, and magnesium tablets. Would love to hear what others are taking also!
  14. Well I've only been on 20 for 5 days so far, but already I can notice a major difference! Can't wait to see my progress at 4 and 8 weeks.
  15. Yay, saw my pdoc today and much to my surprise he wants me to go from 10 to 20 straight away. I'll let everyone know how my progess goes.
  16. Bump. Anyone had much improvement going from 10mg to 15mg? (Lexapro) I see my psychiatrist tomorrow and he'll most likely be giving me an increase. I want to go to 20 but I reckon he'll just put me on 15, and I'm a bit worried that 5 difference won't be much change.
  17. Thanks. Yeah it did help. You're definitely right when you say it makes them more effective for anxiety. I've improved heaps with my anxiety, and feeling emotionally blunt from time to time is certainly a small price to pay.
  18. Hey everyone. I'm currently on 10mg of Lexapro and have been so for 10 weeks. While I still do get the normal highs and lows, sometimes, like right now as I'm typing this, I feel completely neutral. As in I don't feel much or any emotion. I have read that this can be a side-effect and people can feel like a robot. Regarding that, I'd just like to know a couple of things: Is this side-effect temporary or permanent. Also, will this side-effect go away if I ever do decide to come off this medication? Would also love to hear about others experiences!
  19. Hey all. I've been on Lexapro 10mg for 10 weeks and I have made such remarkable improvements. I honestly feel I am only a few weeks away from being back to 'normal' and able to fully function again. With that said, I feel a bit scared knowing that I'll have to go out into the real world again. Probably because it's been so long since I've been like this and also the fact that I could at any given time return to that torturous life that I endured. Does anyone else feel like this? And for those that have been 'cured', what did it feel like the first couple weeks of returning to your normal life?
  20. Hey everyone, just out of curiosity, I'd like to see how often some of you guys are aware that you're suffering with anxiety. Obviously the better you're doing, the more likely you're gonna forget about it. As for me, I'm always aware that I have it and it's always on my mind. But I have made a lot of progress and I can function again. Hopefully one day I'll forget all about it like some people have and I can move on with my life. Would love to hear about others!
  21. Hi there, I know exactly how you're feeling by being really jumpy and on edge for no reason. Just thought I'd say that I took Pristiq for a month and it really didn't help with the anxiety, because it's more of a stimulating drug. But that's just me, you might be different. If this med doesn't seem to work for you, if I were to give any recommendation, I'd say give Lexapro a shot. Best of luck to you.
  22. Not really what I was asking but thanks anyway.
  23. Hey all, this is just a question about reaching full effect with not just Lexapro, but pretty much any antidepressant, it's a bit hard to explain but I'll give it a shot. So just say you do find the right one, will the benefits keep increasing until you hit 'normal' or pretty close to it, whether that takes 4 weeks or 4 months, or just say at 12 weeks tops, when the full effect does hit, however normal you're feeling, whether it's 60% or 70%, that will be it unless you increase your dosage?
  24. Hiya, I've been on 10mg for 8 weeks now and I still get a bit of morning anxiety, but it is improving and I do feel a hell lot better an hour or so after waking up. But as you probably know, everyone's different and responds differently to meds blah blah blah... Anyway, I wish you the best of luck.
  25. Bump. Just wanna know if anyone else notices a difference between 10mg and 20mg. Been on 10mg for 7 weeks and still feeling quite anxious.
