I'm curious to see what the majority with BP have...so far I haven't read anything that suggests which type most BPs have. I'm guessing type II, but that is only because the few people I know with BP are type II.

I was diagnosed with type II a few days ago, and I think it is a correct diagnosis.

Bipolar - Not Otherwise Specifed, I really haven't asked my psichiatrist (I don't think I want to know) most of the time my mood is depressed, the only manic episode I've known to have gave me a blackout and a psychotic episode and sent me to a mental hospital.
But, the more I think about my behavior my whole life, the more I am convinced that I have been bipolar for a really long time I just didn't know it.

I put bipolar II, because that's what I was diagnosed with ages ago. But I feel that might be a bit inaccurate at this point. From what I understand, any sort of psychosis(paranoia, delusions, hallucinations, etc) automatically rules out the type II diagnosis. I also never really get manic. Just hypomanic. But there are definitely elements of psychosis that weren't there before. I'm extremely paranoid all of the time. The other night I even frantically took apart my smoke detector because I convinced myself that my landlord had put in a hidden camera to spy on me.. ermm.gif
Is it possible that I might be becoming type I?

Good question, I don't know to be honest. Only a psychiatrist is able to properly diagnose you. Have you made an appointment with a pdoc? It might be a good place to start, it is always possible that symptoms change or new ones start showing. Let us know how you are doing hugs.gif

Type 2 Bipolar, rapid cycling and mixed episodes.

I am stable, as long as I take my meds religiously. I threw up my Lamictal 2 days in a row and paid for it. But, I haven't had any serious issues in awhile.

My shrink and I are teetering more towards the mild end of BP, now that I am off of my Celexa; it was causing me a lot of issues. We have found that it was the major culprit in my case; it was really throwing me for a loop.

I was very concerned with the shortening days as I was ridiculously photo sensitive all last spring; if the sun wasn't out, I kicked into terrible mixed episodes. But, everything has been great.

Luckily, I am really super sensitive to meds, so it's easy for me to find what works and what doesn't. Not a whole lot of 'wait and see' periods for me.

I'm Bipolar type deux, with ultra-rapid cycling. My episodes really vary by the time of year. In the spring and summer I tend to have more hypomania and in the early winter and late winter, there is a lot more depression. My episodes were a lot worse when I was a teenager than now. Has anyone else found that they have mellowed out a lot after puberty and all that mess?

I can relate. Have the same tendency of going hypomanic in spring/summer and depressed late fall/winter. However, to me it was the other way around, I felt much more stable as a teenager, it has gotten worse over the last 4 years. Though of course I do remember the cycling as early as back when I was 15. It was a difficult time because of other reasons, so I never put much thought into it.
