Rahul, i have been taking cipralex for 6 weeks now. About 3 and a half on the 20mg dose. And i have been on wellbutrin for 2 weeks now.

There is just a slight improvement, but nothing major. I am going to my pdoc today. I will update on how it went.

Do you think I should give lexapro/cipralex a bit more time? What about the wellbutrin? How long does it take to build up the effect?

Lynn I feel some side effects on wellbutrin, but not yet any effect on depression. Thanks for asking. How are you doing? Is it getting better for you? :)

i have no experience with wellbutrin but yes, give the cipralex, rather the combo, more time!

I'm not a doctor or a health professional and any advice in my post is purely my personal opinion and anecdotal.

Audiosultan I wonder the same thing. Although I've been inching my way up to 10mg on lexapro I'm still not feeling myself or even close to it. I've been on lex for a total of 10 weeks but only 2 weeks at 10mg. I'm not sure if I should start "counting" now (when I reached 10mg) or when I first started the lexapro 10 weeks ago. I'm not sure if I should continue on this med or not at this point. I'm not feeling as bad as I did when first started it but u thought I'd be so much further along at this point. Suggestions anyone?

Hey Lynn! I currently take 20mg of lex every day. So there is way up even after 10mg. Stick with it for 2-3 more weeks and then maybe up the dose or try something else.
How are you feeling today?
I personally don't even know how I feel. My doc just upped my wellbutrin dosage to the therapeutic dose. We'll see. Trying two meds I guess it's likely that something will happen. I mean there is some improvement just really slowly and nothing too big. I'm trying to go for a short walk every day. It doesn't really help, but it's good that at least I'm capable of it.

Sanguinepixie I'm so glad to hear you are back to normal. Thanks for sharing your story, it helps and encourages the rest of us to read it. I'm getting there, slowly. I need to understand little progress is progress even if it's not the huge amount of progress I had hoped for this far along. Getting there...

Hi Lynn! I will slowly taper off lexapro because it was totally ineffective for two months. I am currently on wellbutrin, which still didn't do anything. But it's still early on. I have horrible fatigue. Can't even walk. No energy to do anything. Such a prison! I'm glad you're doing better!

Audiosultan have you tried adding adderall to the mix? My pdoc often rxs it for this reason - a real low dose but it perks people up (yes, it's a stimulant and it would be considered an off label use but it could very well help you...finding someone to rx it might be a problem though due to abuse). Just a thought.

Audiosultan I have no idea if you can add this to Wellbutrin though so obviously check that out with your pdoc first. Hope you're having a better day!

Hi everyone,

Still improving at 9 weeks - and it's still a little bumpy, though nothing like before. I"m eating, sleeping, feeling normal again. Joy is back, I'm reading, cooking, cleaning, seeing friends, shopping, playing with my kids….

My brain feels so different now, it's hard to remember feeling so desperate I didn't trust it would end. What a cruel trick our brains play on us.

Wishing everyone the success I've had.

Stay strong.

xx

Also - no trouble stopping lorazepam now I feel good. This has been my experience in the past, but I know some people develop a troubling dependency that hinders their progress on the ADs. Didn't need to taper at all.
