I took escitalopram for 2-days and stopped (Cold Turkey) it the third day because I couldn't take the side effects

-Tingling hands
-Sweaty hands
-Worse anxiety
-Insomnia
-Heart Burn
-Abnormal high blood pressure/heart beat rate.

After I took off the med, my blood pressure subsided back to almost normal to (Normal 120s/70s from 140s+/100s)
now mostly i get BP 127/73, 131/80.

My question is, Is it safe to get off it at 3rd day cold turkey?
My main concern is.. is the Insomnia ever gonna stop?

How long does the side effect (like insomnia) will last on a 2day dose with 5mg.

Thank you in advance = )

stopping a 2 day dose of 5 mg should not give you ANY symptoms. in my humble opinion, your insomnia probably has a different etiology.

I'm not a doctor or a health professional and any advice in my post is purely my personal opinion and anecdotal.

Dx: MDD
Rx: 20 mg escitalopram + 15mg mitrazapine + 20 mg chlordiazepoxide (all
at bedtime)

Hi Juju808.

Unfortunately we're not professionals here on DF, just other people with depression, so we can't give medical advice. I would advise talking to your doctor or pharmacist about the side effects you experienced and how long they might persist. I did get insomnia myself from escitalopram, but it went away after a few days even though I continued to take the medication.
