I know this doesn't really fit into the category of this forum, but I don't know where else to turn to for help. I have a friend that was raped years ago (her sister was also raped). The man was her mother's ex husband. She doesn't know about it. The man gave them both a scar and said he'd k i l l them if either on of them told. They haven't told an adult. Their family is abusive and dysfunctional. I don't know how to help my friend. She and her family suffer from multiple mental illnesses, some of them are going to therapy and taking medicine, but it's not enough. This friend is constantly suicidal and does harm herself. Her personality is very impulsive and violent. I'm scared for her. I don't know what to do. I'm scared that even if he went to jail (not that there's any proof of what he's done) he'd get back out and carry out vengeance. If anyone has any advice at all, I'd really appreciate it.

Just throwing ideas around: tell your friend to contact child services (if she is under 18)? Or perhaps find a shelter and get out of there as soon as possible, all the while continuing treatment?

Hi Shadow_in_my_heart, most places will have rape counselling services, if you can encourage your friend to go to one to get some support. She obviously has a very good friend in you.
