my mind is constantly racing with thoughts, anxieties, worries - and i'll deal with them in one of two ways a) distract myself by reading/watching TV or b) going to sleep. i am extremely fortunate to have parents who understanding, including my mom who has overcome depression herself.

but whenever she tries to talk to me, and to understand how i feel i shut down. there's a huge lump in my throat, i feel like i can't speak, the thoughts are there in abundance but its like they're trapped. eventually she'll get frustrated because i won't express myself, and when she's distant, i start feeling anxious that we're growing apart, and recently, irrationally irritated at her - even though I am fully aware I am the one pushing her away.

wondering if anyone else has had issues expressing themselves to the people they are close to, and how they have dealt with it.

Hi nerv0usrex,

try writing it out - see if that works - you can then share that .....

Hi nerv0usrex

Addict has an excellent idea with writing down what you want to say. I don't know if you have a counselor or therapist, but that can help as well.
