Lexapro Increased Social Anxiety

Did anyone find that lexapro increased their social anxiety at first? Before taking lexapro, I was comfortable with people but now I get very nervous about social situations and dont have much to say. Do you guys think this will go away? I have taken 20mg for 2 weeks.

Hello Ice,

I am not on the same medication, but I think that what you describe is a very common side effect and I had a similar thing. It did wear off and was worst at 2-3 weeks and then decreased gradually.

I'm on Cipralex, and I did notice that my social anxiety went way up. I'm not sure if this was because of the medication, or if it was just related to the depression itself. I'm at the point where I don't even like to leave the house without my husband because I feel like everyone is staring at me.
