Hey everyone, my name's Ray and I'm new to DF.

I have Dysthymic Disorder and my therapist suggested I talk to as many people as I possibly can about my problems, so I figured here was a good place place to do it, even if you're all just strangers I'll probably never meet in real life.

I'm also here to help people the best I can :)

If anyone has any good tips on overcoming my long-term depression, I'd be more than happy to hear them because like everyone on these forums, I don't want to be depressed the rest of my life.

Thanks everyone!

Hi Ray! Welcome to the forum! We're glad you're here. Overcoming depression? The only tip I can give you if not to give up on yourself. There is a way out---we all just have to find our own way out. You're among friends here, so don't be shy about asking, sharing, discussing....

Hi Ray,

You've come to the right place to talk to people who can relate to your story. Everyone here is very friendly, caring and supportive.

My advice is don't give up hope. Every day brings a new chance that this could be the day you feel better. In the meantime, I'm sure you'll make lots of friends here, even if it's not face to face! These days I find that some of my best friends are virtual friends! I look forward to hearing from you!
