Perhaps my body chemistry is peculiar, but I've found that I feel really good when I take cold medicine. Could it be the pseudoephedrine? I'm gonna mention it to my doctor, but I don't expect any substantive comments, except perhaps her referencing SSRI's.
During the winter season I take the OTC medicine on the first sign of a virus, and it makes me less irritable. Normally I don't take the medicine during the summer, except this last week, I've been taking it to treat some severe chest congestion due to my quiting smoking. Just today, I was feeling stress, uneasiness in my stomach and having depressed thoughts. About an hour after taking the medicine, the feeling in my stomach is gone and I am not reacting as strongly to my negative thoughts.
Anyone else? Perhaps some one knows of a study of some sort? I'm thinking my experience may suggest a more effective prescription to treat my mental health? Like maybe a stimulant instead of an SSRI.
