Hi there,
Wellbutrin XL 150mg is my first antidepressant I've ever taken. Actually, it's the only prescription I've ever taken in my life, aside from antibiotics when I was a kid.
So, I'm 4 days in, and I can't sleep. Yesterday probably didn't help because I drank espresso at 5:00 pm (I would NOT recommend caffeine with this med from personal experience).
I am coming out of a major depression this last month, and have noticed GOOD improvement in my energy levels and motivation.
But what I've noticed is that my thoughts were just racing last night (again probably because of the caffeine/drug mix). I didn't get to sleep until 3:30 a.m., and woke up only 4 hours later.
How long will the insomnia last? I suspect it'll subside in 6 weeks. I read that 11% get insomnia the first time they're adjusting to the drug, but it never mentions the duration of insomnia.

I've been on Wellbrutrin for seven months now but the first few weeks were challening. Definitely had sleep disturbance. Also had mood swings for 2-3 weeks. But I kept on with it and now it is working well. I'd give it a good run before you consider something else. It seems to take awhile.

I'm on Bupropion. The first few days were kinda weird. I felt woozy, like I was looking at the world from a tilted angle. I stayed wide awake for the first few days, like bug-eyed awake and I was hyper like a squirrel on speed for a while, which was almost fun. I got fidgety and developed a couple of ticks that are now fading away. And my hands shake.
All that went away after a couple of weeks. All except for the shaking which I think is permanent. Which is irritating because I kinda like staying up all night and being wide awake and refreshed the next day.

WB can affect sleep patterns if taken too late in the day. It's best taken in the morning. The late afternoon expresso added to your lack of sleep. Racing thoughts should diminish in time; however, for some people they will continue. If you experience strange or unusual side-effects that interfere with your functioning, call your pdoc for advice.
With some AD's, tremors are a side-effect. Again, the tremors may go away or they may continue. We all respond/react to meds differently so it is hard to tell what will occur with each of us.
I hope WB works well for you.
