Hi,
I'm about to bump my dose of Cymbalta from 3 tabs (180mg) to 4 tabs (240mg)
Is anyone else on this high a dose? And does it make a difference?
I've been on this anti-d for about a year now. No side effects. I've been on a lot of different types over the last ten years
and this one seems to be the best... kinda...
Cheers,
B.

Max Dosage?

Hi sunspots, We aren't professionals here and can only speak from personal exprience and personal knowledge. I believe that the information from the makers of Cymbalta say that they don't have proof that dosages over 60 mg./day are more effective than 60. There are at least some members here who take 120 mg/day. You're taking more than that now and upping it.
Are you seeing a psychiatrist or a general practioner? Many general practioners just don't have the training, knowledge or experience to treat patients with chronic mental illness such as chronic depression. My personal experience with ADs is that my psychiatrist will add another med rather than to keep raising the dose after I'm on a recommended maintenance dose, or change the medication to one that may work more effectively.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I was hoping to get peoples personal experiences.
I see a Psychiatrist (have so for the last 9 years).
I have def noticed a difference with upping the Cymbalta, but he has also just added Lithium (2 x 300mg daily), so hopefully
that will help the most. I've had a very rough year, experiencing bad anxiety for the first time, and a few nervous breakdowns following a traumatic event, that and leaving my abusive (in every nature) boyfriend of 13 years.
I also take 150mg Seroquel to sleep (although I get up for at least an hour during the night), and up to 60mg of Serapax (benzo) when my anxiety is really bad (not so much panic attacks - just 24/7 on the verge of having one).

Are you also seeing a therapist in addition to taking meds? I only ask this because you mention a traumatic event and recently leaving an abusive relationship. Regular therapy may be useful in dealing with these events, perhaps to the point where you may be able to stave off the med increase. Of course, this is a situation where your therapist and your doctor should be communicating with one another.
Just something to think about.
Be well!
