Hello one and all. I woke up this morning after a long night and had to write to talk it out. I had such a vivid and scary dream. It was so vivid it felt real. I can't remember all the details, thank God, but it included me and another person shooting my wife and hiding the body. This scares me.
I have been on effexor xr since July of this year and have had vivid dreams before but not one this disturbing. I can't talk to my wife about it because I might scare her and I know people here will understand without thingk of the meed to call the police or take me to the pysch unit. I tried waking up from the dream during the night, but I couldn't. Fourtunately, the vivid dreams are usually not this bad. I can normally shake them off but this one got me. Anyone else have this experience? Thanks guys!

Gonzo, this sounds scary indeed.
I don't have the vivid dreams I think. I wake up all sweaty half the time. Don't know if this has anything to do with my dreams. It's probably just the other side effect of effexor. Really hope you dream of nice things tonight!
Kitkat, just wanted to say
Sorry to hear the effexor was so hard to taper off. Hope you're not experiencing too many side-effects while starting up the Prozac.
Take care!

Thanks Autumn! After my crisis during the summer, I only recently felt comfortable in my own skin. But every now & then, I have my doubts. Thank God I have gotten better at hiding it lately.

I'm sure this shook you up, Gonzo, but we're all prone to vivid dreaming, so I wouldn't worry about going to sleep tonight. I don't think this dream would get you in a hospital, either. Sometimes when I watch something disturbing on the tv, I have dreams about what I saw. Just an overreactive imagination, I think. Hope you never have another dream like this again!
Take care!

Dreams shouldn't be taken literally, just because you have a dream that you killed someone doesn't indicate a violent personality.
Some believe that dreams are showing us aspects of ourselves and that anyone in a dream is actually ourselves. Perhaps you have worries on your mind that you need to be talking about.
Perhaps there is something about you that you'd like to '****' or get rid of.
As jkm says dreams can be trigger by what we've seen or read.
If you are worried about the dream and what it might mean then talk about it with a therapist.
One off dreams are just that, if the dream persists then maybe your subconscious is trying to tell you something.

Thanks ladies. Last nite, I took lunesta and had a dreamless sleep which was nice. The dream just shook me up because I never experinced anything like it. Firelizardee, I will take your advice and monitor it. If I have one more like it, my shrink is definately getting a call!

I had a dream last night that I packed my family up and moved to Fla. Makes sense to me as it's getting cold outside and I'm tired of battling ole man winter.
Take care, and try not to worry about it. I have repetitive dreams and they're not bad, just wierd. Most of them have to do with what I'd call 'unfinished business'. I suppose it's going to come out womewhere. At least this is a safe place to explore these feelings.
