I have been taking Zoloft for two weeks. I am on 200mg, and I started feeling better after a few days. However, only my depression got better. Now, after two weeks, my anxiety is slightly improving. I won't judge the medication completely until I've been on it for two months or so.
Hard as it may be sometimes, have faith! Happy Days 08

How long did Zoloft take to work on all of you?

for me, i started at out 100 mg and it took about 2 to 3 weeks for the symptons to wear off. i had the worst headaches of my life and was very restless but as soon as the medicine started working i felt great. i think it blocked all my emotions for the entire time i was on it, but that's better than crying all the time. when i got up to 200 mg a day i literally felt numb but was happy so i stayed on it for up to 2 years. it takes a while for it to adjust to your system. just stick to it though and don't quit unless the symptons don't wear off in about 4 months. the headaches usally go away after a few days.

I'm on day 14 and feel a lot like you. I feel better but not quite great. I did notice an improvement in the first few days. I want it to work now, but I'm learning there is no quick fix. My doctors suggested I go up to 100mg from the 50 I started at in about a week I just hope it doesn't increase any side effects.

Much love and luck :hearts:

This is just short of 2 weeks for me. I think I am barely sensing some small relief from the anxiety but it still hasn't effected the depression too much. It has made me very tired though. I pretty much sleep all day long. Just headed out to get a new puppy.. Maybe that will put a smile on my face... Sure hope I get some relief soon.

It is day 5 for me on Zoloft. I felt a real difference today. I even made some jokes in a meeting at work today and I haven't done that in a long time. I hope it continues to get better, maybe my dose will be increased at my next pdoc appointment. I still wish I had better focus, hopefully that will improve soon. :hearts:

was on for 6 weeks at increasing doses and depression/anxiety kept getting worse and worse to the point where i had to go to an inpatient unit. was not the drug for me... it was like a sugar pill... i had NO effects! they put me on celexa now and i'm already feeling a little better after <1 week. i'd heard such great stuff about zoloft i was very disappointed :hearts:
The dream was always running ahead of me. To catch up, to live for a moment in unison with it, that was the miracle.

It took about three weeks for Zoloft to start helping my anxiety and PTSD symptoms. It took about five weeks for it to help with my depression. I was and am still at 25 mg a day because my body is very sensitive in general. I tried to move up to 50 mg but the side effects were disastrous so I went back down to 25 mg, which seems to be working well for me now.

It took about a month for me to feel much of anything positive. It took 2 months plus for me to really get stable.

Even at about 3 months in I still get anxious at times. Depression is under control though. I'm on 50mg and the start up SE's were really rough. After that though, it's been pretty good. Sometimes I even forget I'm taking it, which I think is a good thing.

Some of the greatest advice I've ever received on DF: "Always remember that recovery is not linear"
Such a simple phrase, but so easily forgotten...

.
Can someone help me sort my mess out? (And This is myfirst post here. So hello to everyone)

I took 100 mg Zoloft for about 15 years, with great results. Not one depression outbreak during that time, or anxiety either. (of course I also used a little Klonopin) Tried to wean a couple times but got very bad anxiety and depression so went back on. In two weeks I was back to normal.
In the beginning of 2008, I felt that things were going so well (I know you have heard this story before) that I could wean off both pills!!! I did so with NO withdrawl or any problems at all! By September of 2008, I was drug free and happier than ever!
About three months later I began to have panic attacks, which I had not had since I was 15. I had four of them. I also had some very mild anxiety and depression symptoms. I tried to cope with it, it wasn't bad, and did not want to resume the meds, although I did begin a little Klonopin again.
In March of 2009 I had a whopper of a panic attack, and my shrink told me to resume zoloft. She titrated me super slow, though. 25 for a week, 50 for a month, 75 for a month, then finally back to the dose that always worked- 100 mg.
Well, for three days after starting 50 mg I felt good. Then I went backwards. In the third week of 75 I felt good, then went backwards. In the fourth and fifth weeks of 100 mg I felt good, then went backwards.
Seven weeks into the 100 mg she said it was no longer useful for me, and we went up to 125 for a week or so, then 150 mg. I began 125 about three weeks ago, and 150 about a week ago.
Four days after the starting 150, I began to feel good. Felt that way for five days- best I have felt since the relapse began, although still not 100 percent. Now the last two days I have not felt so hot.
Does anyone know what is going on? This is four months now total since the relapse began. I seem to respond to a new dosage but only for a while. I seem to go through Zoloft now like it was candy.
My doc is confident 150 is what will do the trick. Has anyone had an experience like mine? I do not know whether to believe I simply need the right dosage of zoloft or look for another pill.
Anything you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

I can't say for sure in your case, since I'm no doctor, but my psychiatrist told me that restarting Zoloft can be tricky. She mentioned that for many people with depression or anxiety, Zoloft only works the first time and never again thereafter. If you wean off it the first time you have a chance of it working again. But I'm guessing that since this is your third or fourth time restarting it, your system has become too accustomed to it. I would ask your psychiatrist what she thinks. Maybe she could recommend a different line of antidepressants. Best of luck Wit's End.

I've been on Zoloft for about 7 months now, 5 of those have been at a dosage of 200mg/day. I am yet to feel any improvement in my depressed mood :( but there has been an improvement in my anxiety and I haven't used Xanax in about 5 months :) However, it would have been better if the Zoloft improved my mood and did nothing for my anxiety, and even better if both were helped!

I have been on 25 mg of Zoloft for two days. I definitely do not expect to feel any benefits for another few weeks, but the nausea is crippling. I was previously on Pristiq last year, and remember the nausea lasting 2 days, and then stopped. I'm scared b/c I've been reading that Zoloft's nausea might not go away as quickly. I hope that's not the case, because this is AWFUL.

The first day I had mild side effects, such as the shakes.
But aside from that I felt like it was working right away.
I was so relieved. I've been on it for 3 months. And I find
the best time is to take it in the morning, when you're
going to work. That way you have the up during the day
and your low at night when you're going to bed.
I've noticed I also now sleep on my back (I was a sleep-on-
my-side kind of gal). Anyone else notice different behaviors?
I always dream a lot more and remember.

I've been Zoloft for almost 4 weeks. I honestly have no felt any effects at all.
I am worried because many posts here mentions at least slight improvement after or within 1-2 weeks.
The only side effect I experience is yawning and dry throat.

Pmeds work differently for everyone. I suggest you hang in there a little longer. If, at six weeks, you are still not feeling an improvement, talk to your doctor. You may need an increase or a med change.

I started taking zoloft 10 days ago. There are tiny windows of hope but that's only my brain, I think. I usually am depressed around the day but I am all relaxed and wonderful after midnight. It's been like that even before I started taking Zoloft. I sometimes dwell on the idea that I am not actually depressed and that I need to suck it up! I really am lost. Thinking like that is so weakening. I hope I get throught this phase REALLY soon!!
