Hi..my name is Karen and I am 50 y.o. I was put on Lexapro almost 2 weeks ago for depression and GAD and, although I see some difference (not crying all the time), the anxiety is still there. It is somewhat reduced-I had felt constant anxiety for so many years, that it was weird to wake up during the night and not feel the pervasive worries I'd experienced for so long. Also, I was put on klonopin at the same time, so I wonder if the Klonopin is responsible for the changes and not the Lexapro. Is anyone else on both these medications? How do you tell what is working?
Hi Karen,
It sounds like you are off to a good start with the medications. Unfortuantely its a little early to know how well they are going to work for you. The Lexapro may show you a little sign here and there of helping but if its really going to help, you may not know for 8 weeks or more.
Try to be patient, it can be hard when we want relief now but often times you will see bigger improvments after several weeks. Good luck and be sure to let us know how your doing..

There is no better treatment for depression then the support of your family.
