Can I donate using a credit / debit card?

Not at this time. Taking credit / debit card payments costs money and DF is not currently in a position to pay for such facilities. Hopefully, in the future, this will be possible.

What are online donations?

Online donations are a way you can support the work of Depressionforums.org. We try to keep costs down, by running the site as efficiently as possible, using as many free tools as possible, minimizing the number of "bells and whistles" on the site, and hiring the most cost-effective hosting services for the site.

Nevertheless, there are significant costs. Therefore, your donations help us to expand the site, and to continue providing the highest quality online community for members who are already healing from depression and those members who want and need help.

Do I have to donate?

No. The decision to donate is yours alone. If you or someone you love suffer from depression or any other mood disorder/mental illness, you may be experiencing some financial difficulties. We know about economic hardship, from our own experience. Therefore, while we will appreciate your generosity, please take care of yourself, first! Donations are 100% voluntary.

How much should I donate?

Again, that decision is up to you. We will appreciate any donation you give. The costs of providing this site include labor for research and development and site administration, Internet service provider and broadband access fees, and hosting fees (which will increase as our popularity increases). We now have a fully dedicated service so you will not have any slower Depressionforums.org downtimes as you might have noticed as of late. This is truly an expensive monthly proposition. But with your contributions it can continue to be doable.

If you are an occasional visitor, may we suggest a donation of $15 - $20 per year? If you visit the site daily, please consider taking out one of our subscription packages . If you are a big fan of depressionforums.org, please feel free to donate as much as you like. :-)

Are there other ways to help to contribute to DF?

Yes.

You also can help us by taking out a sponsorship subscription so that DF has a regular income to support itself on the web TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT the dedicated server we have so that there are limited interruptions and downtime. .

Are donations to Depressionforums.org tax-deductible?

No. Not at this time. Depression Forums, Incorporated is not a tax-exempt organization under the laws of the United States of America or the laws of any other country. Depression Forums, Incorporated, will pay all legally required income taxes on donations Depressionforums.org receives.

When DF eventually is an organization large enough at the level where it can afford to maintain a 501©(3) tax-exempt status, we shall become tax-exempt as there are currently plans to convert depressionforums.org into a tax-exempt entity.
