The Path Less Travelled

A funny thing happened tonight. I'm still giggling over it.
I was feeling restless so I thought I would go to the gym, walking it there instead of driving despite not liking being seen in gym clothes when I'm not in ...well, a gym. Some fine (and some not quite so fine) figures like to even shop dressed like that but not me. Rather, I thought I would take Lucy for a stroll as the motion always seems to brighten her, as does picking flowers for her along the way.
I had stopped to wander why my phone wasn't showing any reception when two boys in an admittedly very nice looking car drove by. [I think it was a Mustang]. The passenger was out of the car to his waist when it came alongside me. He then said something very loud and very blue. He might have been half-cut too, not that it matters much. I was stunned. This sort of thing doesn't really happen in my neighbourhood and I'm long past expecting it to happen to me. I'm not 21 anymore and I was pushing a pram.
But that's what was so funny about it and I really do wish I could have captured the guy's expression. Just as he was screaming "Show us your.....etc" he caught sight of Lucy's pram and the wind disappeared out of him that quickly he nearly fell out of the car. He didn't, thankfully, and I'm not really sure how I contained myself either. The look was priceless.
I shouldn't admit this...s***, I shouldn't even think it...but I couldn't help but feel flattered. Young and dumb and a dime-a-dozen these boys may have been, but Captain Charmless was more than a bit handsome. It's quite odd how good feelings can come from the strangest of places.
Odd too that, if I really was 21, I might have talked them into letting me drive then conspired to crash their precious little chick-magnet. That happened once but I've moved on from that sort of thing.
