Hi there,
I have been on Zoloft for 4 weeks (1 week at 25 mg and 3 at 50 mg). I have panic disorder (unexplained panic attacks I have had 2 in two in a month) and then the subsequent anticipation anxiety everyday after till the next. Also worried alot before and had mild anxiety but nothing like this. Anyway I have been on SSRI before for the mild anxiety but cant rem the side effects (celexa and paxil) and frankly I prob didnt even need them back then b/c I had no panic or anything just stress honestly. I would give anything for that ha ha!
Anyway I am experienceing foggy head (like heavy feeling), dry mouth, some increased anxiety though thats mostly in morning and beggining to wane. I also WAS sleeping fine (prob not awesome but falling asleep and not waking KWIM) and the past two days now I havent benn able to or I fall asleep breifly only to wake up again. The only difference was the first day it happened I took 100 mg in the morning instead of my normal 50 mg (BAD I know but I figured since I had just had another attack the 50 wasnt working). I switched back to 50 mg the next day and took it this time at night 30 min before bed and nothing couldnt sleep well.
Anyone have any ideas on any of these side effects and how long they last? I am going to a psych md for meds this coming week but also started therapy :) ALSO though I have never been depressed I now find myself ready to cry always and so sad about all of this... normal?

I can certainly relate to the panic attack thing. I have those, too. I've been on the zoloft for a few months now so I'm certainly no expert, but increased anxiety/depression and insomnia seem to be fairly common side effects for zoloft, especially for the first several weeks and after a dose increase (usually for a shorter time). I had to step up the dose really slowly to avoid having serious increase in anxiety and feeling restless, but some people can jump from 50 to 100 without a problem. Just be sure you're communicating with your doctor. Some people end up taking their zoloft in the morning because it keeps them awake and others at night because it makes them sleepy. . .everyone's different.
There's a "thread" in the zoloft forum called the z-train and the z-train 2. A group of us started it when we started zoloft. It might be a good place to read about our experiences on zoloft, which are far from over.
Good luck
Ali
