Hi everyone,

I've been taking Zoloft for 3 weeks and have had really severe side effects and have to discontinue taking it. I started at 25mg for 1 week, then 50mg the second week and 100mg the third week.

A friend told me about 5-HTP and I would like to start taking that instead of the Zoloft.

Does anyone know how long I have to wait before I can switch to the 5-HTP?

Since I've only been taking the Zoloft for 3 weeks, do I have to wean off it or can I just quit taking it?

My psych doc won't call me back!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

c

One thing you should never do is quit a med with out a Dr. knowing about it. i have always been told that you have to wean off. I dunno if 3 weeks is long enough to have to wean. call your Dr.s office and demand that he call you back. sometimes they have to be reminded that they work for us not the other way around. Not all are like that but some seem to forget it

I also had bad side effects on Zoloft. I quit taking it as well after only about a week. Needless to say that was a mistake because I suffered the most horrible migraine I've ever had for about 3 days straight. I would suggest weaning off as best as you could. I've also heard of people haveing brain zaps and seizures from suddenly stopping. But I would definately let my doctor know what was going on and work with him in getting off them.
