Hi all,

First off, I have nobody in my life to share this (even my doc barely speaks english) with so any thoughts greatly appreciated. So I have lifelong anxiety. In the past year and a half it has gotten really really bad and has now turned to bad depression + anxiety. The thing that scares me the most is the last year and a half I have had some of the best things going on in my life. But since I feel like s*** all the time I can't enjoy them. This is really scary because what will happen when I actually have things going wrong in my life?

Either way...I started Mirtazapine (norset for those of us in Europe) 2 months ago. Started at 15mg. First couple days I was a zombie, it hit me hard. Then the next 2 weeks or so I felt great, thought I was back to my old self. But then it just stopped working, actually went the opposite direction and now it feels like it is worse. It has now been about 4-5 weeks like this. I can barely have a conversation with people and want to avoid them at all costs. Doc just upped me to 30mgs and I have been on that for 2 days. But I am wondering if I should just quit now. Is it really going to all of a sudden turn around?? Every day seems to be getting worse. From what I have read Mirtz shouldn't take long to be fully absorbed in your system. I have presentations coming up for work, friends coming to visit and will be traveling and I can't afford to have gut wrenching anxiety all the time. What has everybody's experience been like when increasing dosage?
Please somebody let me know your thoughts!!!!!!

In term of diminishing your Social Phobia ( interacting with people, etc), I personally find that Mirtazapine, even in its highest dose of 135mg/day does not help at all, except, it is good for sleeping, and feeling of well-being when taken in the SolTab form with a higher dosage. It may relieves symptoms of low mood and chronic tension headache ( as it also works through some opioid receptors, mu and kappa-3), but when it comes to the situation you are experiencing, if sedation is the problem, AURORIX (Moclobemide) would seem to be more suitable, as AURORIX also has been approved to treat symptom of Social Phobia.

If confronting people is a major problem, ( nervousness, trembling etc), I find that a combination of a low dose of TOFRANIL ( Imipramine ) 10-25mg, 2 to 3 times a day, along with a prn ( as needed) use of a high potency benzodiazepine is very effective. In the past, I tried a low dose of TOFRANIL,25mg twice daily, with Xanax, 0.5mg as needed, worked wonderful in the situation where i have to confront people, or desensetizing my Specific Phobia ( height phobia/ acrophobia ).

Well, I don't know what your current diagnosis is, so it is best to talk to your doctor about your issue, whether because the Mirtazapine causing the side effect, or maybe the dose or the form of tablet as well as the timing of the administration of your medication should be adjusted.

Good luck.

Maybe Minotaur if you could explain that last comment it would be a little more helpful. Why is that false?
