Since coming off of paxil I have only been on 150mg of wellburtrin for about 1.5 months. It seemed to be ok but I did notice my anxiety went up some so did my irritability. I am up to 300mg now but I have had a noticeable persistent cough for about 2 week. Coming off paxil made me very ill btw. I take the 300mg in the morning. I have asthma symptoms throughout the day and the nerves in the back of my neck seem to be agitatated a lot, with back pain. At it's worse I get so much rage. How do I know this is a Wellbutrin reaction or maybe something else I could be eating? I get very light headed and it feels like I am going to faint. I can't afford to keep going to emergency for this reaction for them to keep asking me are you allergic to anything blah blah blah. I hate to think it is the wellbutrin because I like the energy it does give me but I wondering if there is something I am eating that is reacting with Wellbutrin or that my body just has major affect to. The only other things I can think about are MSG or caffeine, or coming off of paxil. I had chinese food yesterday night, took 300mg of Wellbutrin this morning and maybe about 30 minutes after I felt I had to vomit and I did the actions but nothing came up. Chinese food is known to possibly have MSG and I have also heard that reactions to food issues can be delayed. How do I know for sure what is causing this? Also once a reaction takes place it can sometimes take a day to finally feel better. I felt so much RAGE I would rather die than feel so unstable.

You may need to stop the WB to see if the symptoms recede. I guess that that is not your first choice as a course of action but there may not be a better one. I troubleshoot fairly complicated stuff for a living and a rule of thumb is that if a problem crops up during the course of troubleshooting a prior problem then we always backtrack to see if we introduced the problem. Most times we have introduced the new problem. I even apply this to my personal relations with people. it seems to work well. Just an idea, buddy. I hope you find a fix.

bluespicker makes a good point. I hope you have a doctor you can trust who can see you through the weaning off process. This med stuff is so much trial and error --it can be so frustrating, I know.

It sounds like you are feeling so bad you must call your doctor for his/her expertise. I'd get a second opinion, if your present doctor isn't helping you.

There are so many meds for depression, anxiety, etc. there's surely something that will work. Maybe, another med combo would suit your system better?
I have hope you'll find something and be on the road to healing soon. Hang in there.

I have tried a bunch of meds. I took the 2nd 150mg of wellbutrin and now my jaw just hurts and the back of my neck and now I have a short temper. Do these drugs find their way into the nerves of the neck somehow? Most of the drugs I have taken seem to have affected me somehow in the jaw and neck being so tight. I may try the old tricyclic (nortriptyline) again. I feel so crappy, in pain and now I have to wait this out. I have left a few messages on the doctor voice mail so I sure hope they call me tuesday. I don't think I am taking this med tomorrow at all.

I must say that the Wellbutrin was working well at first but now I am left with a tight jaw, neck and chest when I take it. I will not be taking it tomorrow and I hope the doctor and I can figure something out. I personally think a low dose works just fine for me ... whenever the doctor has upped a dose I get worse.

Well the back of my neck is still so agitated and I will be going back on paxil but the doctor says the extreme pain in the back of my neck is due to anxiety. I don't know but I do know that it hurts like crazy and i think it is because of the Wellbutrin. The thing is, the doctor wants me to stay on this med. I am at 150mg and I plan on skipping tomorrow's dose to see if my neck relaxes. I have a couple questions:

1. Has anyone else ever got a really agitated and painful neck on this med before?

2. I started this med at 150mg and if I wanted to wean off of it is there much withdrawal? I am at the lowest dose now for 7 weeks. I don't recall my neck hurting so much when I was on this med in the beginning with paxil.
