Okay so I'v been told by sever doctors that I am biopolar II and have been on and off medicine my entire life. I've tried Lamicatal and cymbalta as well as prozac and lexapro. None of them seemed to do the trick. Right now I am not on anything, but I feel like I'm going crazy. The racing thoughts are back with a vengance and I can't seem to control my anxiety.

I have been reading a lot about Wellbutrin as an alternative to medicines like Lithium or Seroquel and was wondering if anyone with bipolar II can tell me the pros and cons of Wellbutrin. I am not an extreme case, but I'm definitely depressed and it's interferring with my relationship and my life overall. It comes in waves for sure and right now I need some medicine and am hoping Wellbutrin will be the right choice.

welcomeani.gif to DF Camel,

I am BPII as well, I do not take wellbutrin though. It is my uderstanding that even being BPII you still need a mood stablizer. I am on effexor and seriquol. hopefully some-one will come around that is using welbutrin to answer your question.

I am on Wellbutrin XL 300, which is an anti depressant.

I take it with Lamictal 200 mg, a mood stabiliser,
(I also take Topomax 50 mg also a mood stabiliser).

It took me about 8 weeks to really start feeling the benefits of Wellbutrin. I titrated on Lamictal over a long period, and then also had to titrate on Wellbutrin. It was a long road to get stabilised after other meds just did not work. I feel completely "normal", all the extremes in moods are gone.

There are many of us on the board on this combination.

I again have to say that everyone is different, but for me, it is working fantastically.
