Hi,
I started Wellbutrin SR 3 weeks ago for ADD. It is a blessing to say the least. I am a writer and have had a terrible time staying in the saddle. In the second week I went from 150mg. to 300mg. Two days later I found myself working and staying focused on the task in front of me and then moving on to the next task without delay. Now 3 and 4, sometimes 5 hours pass without having to take a walk or forcing myself back in to the saddle. I just put my head down and when I looked up the time has passed and the work moved forward. I have had very few side effects and they are light at the worst. My sleep is dream filled. I find that interesting. I do however wake up ready and raring to go. That's my story and I am sticking to it!

I hope that is true for me!!! I have mild add and have been taking Wellb for 1 year, but it has been with Xanex. I am getting off the Xanex. We cut it by half. I do feel more clear minded. Maybe once Im on it entirely it will help me too, that would be great!!! Glad to hear you are doing so well!!!

I have many experiences with many different kinds of medications, for many different types of diagnoses that I have. I have ADD, Social Anxiety, General Anxiety, Depression, Daytime sleepiness, and Aggression. If you want to know about Wellbutrin, then I can give you 5 years of my progress, or relapse in the depression department. If you want to know the many medications that I have taken to battle any, or all of these I will be happy to reply. I am now on a cocktail or in doctor's terms an augmentation of several medications to help me tackle each problem at the same time. Now as far as the Wellbutrin, I have taken Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin SR, Wellbutrin XL, and sadly the generic form of Wellbutrin that they give you for what reasons I don't know yet. The generic form of Wellbutrin SR called Budeprion SR. I have so much to say about it and what I it helps me with that I can only answer a couple questions at a time since I don't want to write a huge reply, without letting other people quote, or reply. I will get to you answer by saying yes I have and still take Wellbutrin SR for ADD. I use it in conjunction with one other medication to help boost is effect, and I use another medication to battle anxiety. This becomes a circle that pretty much fixes everything since the medication I take for my anxiety keeps me from being too wired on Wellbutrin SR since it can over stimulate you, and sometimes add anxiety to you that you may not want. The other pill augments with the Wellbutrin SR to help even more for my motivation, as well as help with my depression at the same time. I started on 150 mg of Wellbutrin SR after trials of many anti-depressants that didn't work. I can write on which ones didn't work for me and the side effects. Then after feeling a little better, my doctor brought me up to 300mg of Wellbutrin SR, and I felt great. At least for awhile. Then my girlfriend left me and no medication helps with a broken heart. Anyways after that, my doctor sent me to a psychiatrist and then she asked me what I wanted to be on (I wonder how she got her degree if I knew more than her). I told her the Wellbutrin SR was working, but wanted to step up so she had me try the Wellbutrin XL 300mg pills. It wasn't long before I told her they weren't doing the trick and asked if she could put me back on the Wellbutrin SR and step me up in dose. After the other medications that I chose to try for my anxiety, and my ADD, and my depression, she gave up on me and told me she wasn't comfortable in raising anymore of my doses. At that point I lost faith in her and never went back. In the end with lots missing in my drama and going from two family doctors, and her, I ended up with boosting up my dosage to 450mg of Wellbutrin. I take two in the morning to get me pumped up, and ready to go along with my other secret med (i'll tell you in the next posting if you want that helps with ADD, and Depression)and then I take one in the afternoon about 12:00 up to 2:00p.m. and that sails me through the day without any side effects except dry mouth. I can sleep normal after the first month or so taking them at 12:00p.m. and then I spread it up to 2:00p.m. Anyways I am not a newbie yet on here, but I have enough knowledge without my 4 year degree in Psychiatry by first hand experiences. I know everyone is different, but some of the side effects are in your head. Some may be serious. It depends on the person. Oh and by the way the other cool thing as a bonus of taking Wellbutrin SR, is that I no longer get back pain, or head aches. Only once in a blue moon do I get them but they are neck muscle related. Hope this helped, because I have lots more to talk and share. Especially the other meds that augment to keep me calm, anxiety free, and still be energetic and sleep like a baby at night. Thanks

After being diagnosed with Depression and ADHD in June, I was prescribed Wellbutrin along with Lithium and made it about 60 days on the two. Sometimes I felt so bad both physically and emotionally that I wanted to die and that was even worse than before.

All of my biggest fears about being prescribed medication for my problems were realized and I threw them in the garbage. Now I am really feeling down because I am scared of the medications and wonder what the endgame is. I just don't see how I can ever get back to being a productive self sufficient person.

I have tried to document a bunch of the issues on my blog if you are interested... but make sure you start at the begining because a few of the most recent posts don't deal with the issues of the medication.

Hi all thanks for the great reponses

BPOINT: its great to hear that you are successfully being treated with wellb. I doubled my does to 300 mg sr yesterday and I felt this overwhelming sense of calm come over me, all my aggitation and uneayniess went away. Whether it was just the placebo effect of not, only time will tell, but my doc did say that in people with add this drug and the stimulant equivalents should calm you down enough to focus on one thing. Like type this email ;) I am holding thumbs .. otherwise i think I will have to go to the stimulants which i am wary of. BTW i was initially diagnosed with social phobia and depression but I felt there had to be a 'reason' for this ... i think i may have found it.

PILL A: thanks for the reponse , your history sounds like mine. I was orgionally diagnosed with SP and dperession and we on every ssri snri atypical depressant there was and NEVER felt well on them, in fact most of them made me feel awefull and more depressed. That was until wellb was added into the mix. I was on 50mg of zoloft at that stage and i felt instantly better. After upping the well and dropping the z i seem to feel even better...

What is your secret med ? although i am not sure i want to know ;) i have had enough of meds.... I guess i shouldnt say that becasue they may finally be beginning to help me but it has been a long long road...

OK, so its not a secret medication. I did a lot of research on a site called remedyfind. I studied my anxiety, and what kinds of anxiety there were, and what kinds of depression there were. It is so complicated nowadays that doctors are just using people as test patients for the newer drugs coming out. If you notice they always say this when they explain how the drug works. "Brand A medication is believed to play a key role in neurotransmitter #1". Or they say Brand B medication tested on either on people in a double blind test, or lab animals, "suggests that this medication binds with receptors A & B"
My point is that they never confirm for a fact what any medication for the mind does. They are speculating based on behavioral habits of either humans or animals and make an evaluation. I have taken the strongest anti-depressant ever made by man. Sadly, it is too strong and has consequences that can be irreversible for some people. I have experienced a lot, and tried to make sense of my mind and other's minds by analyzing them with questions or actions. I know that because of that super strong anti-depressant that I took (which is illegal now) My mind opened up like a flower, and made me study even harder on medications that have worked for people like me and I asked to try them. I even brought printouts from the websites on the ratings on these medications to my doctor (which I'm sure made me look like a wannabe doctor by diagnosing myself. After a few of the Medications that they gave me for the first year or so, I started suggesting medications that I wanted to try. After careful review I found out that I could not take any SSRI, NARI's, or NaSSA medications, period. I guess I need to make a blog to explain all of them, and how they made me feel, but I don't know how to do a blog on this site yet. So to sum it up, after going through about 15 medications total, I ended up with three. I actually need the fourth, but my doctor won't put me back on it without going to another psychiatrist first. I am open to suggestions from a new psychiatrist but I doubt him or her can find a better combination. OK now for the question you have asked. I take Wellbutrin SR, Clonazepam (Generic form of Klonopin), and Provigil. There I said it. OK now for the dosing. I wake up in the morning and take depending on the day and how I feel 0-2 Clonazepam 1mg tablets for my social anxiety. For taking blood, interviews, or big crowds, I will take 2-4 pills. I then take my morning dose of 300mg of Wellbutrin SR, which gets me going in about an hour or so, and handles the depression department at the same time, I also take the (not so secret anymore) mood lifting/stimulating/short term memory anhancer/sleepiness helper pill Provigil 200mg in the morning to help augment the Wellbutrin, and to help waken me from the Clonazepam's relaxing tendencies. Then in the afternoon I will take another Wellbutrin SR pill, another 200mg of Provigil, and depending on my anxiety which is usually gone by then, I either don't need the third Clonazepam in because of my energy and mood, or if I am stressed I will take it. At night I take the final Clonazepam for sleep, and I wake up in 6-7 hours fully rested. Ready for another day. On the weekends, I sometimes sleep in and sit around the house, and don't take anything, unless we go out or something. That kind of lowers the plasma levels of the pills that I take. Sorry for writing so much, but this has proven that if you keep trying and document either in your head, or on paper how you feel with each medication, you will find the right key to open your doors to happiness. Oh and since I last talked last night, and was depressed because of my job situation being unemployed for almost a month, I wished upon a falling star while I was smoking a cigarette. This morning the job I had been waiting for over a week for called me to finish up the paperwork and I start Monday morning. Thanks for listening if you haven't fallen asleep yet, LOL.

Sorry to add more, but I have to give reason for this cocktail of meds, that have to do with ADD. Wellbutrin is a non-addictive medication that helps with ADD in high doses like 450mg. Provigil also augments with Wellbutrin to help with depression, but it also adds even more to the ADD problem I have. The only drawback to Provigil is it is hard to get a doctor to prescribe it as a non conventional ADD medication even though it is a class 4 drug which means it has a very low risk of dependency unlike Concerta, Adderall, or Dextroamphetamine. As I said before Provigil adds to the anti-depressant effects of Wellbutrin SR when combined. You have to use the term augmentation with your doctor, so they know that you know they both work well together. The only drawback to Provigil is without insurance, which I had for couple weeks before it kicked in, I asked for a 5 day supply which is 10 pills. I was going to use one pill a day for 10 days by splitting them since they have a score mark to be broken in half. Provigil is just under $10 a pill!! A months supply of Wellbutrin (450mg a day or 90 pills) without insurance is between $200-$300.

I take 450 of WB. I used to day dream all day and my mind would wander thinking about whats bad in my life and making me end up in tears. I've noticed since I started WB that I am a lot more productive and can set out a task and follow-thru.
