Mikki,

I've gained about 6 pounds, however, in talking to my psychiatrist, she does not think it's the Cymbalta, as it really is considered very weight neutral compared to the other SNRIs. I'm also on one other med. (Mirapex) which could be the cause. I've done the classic reduce my food intake and increase my exercise and the extra pounds are coming off. I'm in my mid 40's and the metabolism is slowing, and I have to kick it up a notch if I don't want the weight to get the better of me. That's just my personal take on it. Maddie

I seem to be losing weight on Cymbalta. I'm down about 7 pounds since I started 4 weeks ago. I've been running a lot too, so that has to be considered. But I find it suppresses my appetite a little. It helps me sleep and relax too, so I have less late night eating.

Hello! I've been on Cymbalta since the beginning of August, so about 10 weeks now, slowly weaning off effexor. I'd been on effexor 262.5 for about 12 years, and it just didn't seem to be as effective anymore. My doc suggested cymbalta, which I'm on 60mg of now, still taking 150mg effexor.

Over the last year I have put probably 10 lbs on, and in the last couple of months another 10 lbs! I've always been the type who has to watch my weight, but never got this far overweight before. That said, I"m at "that age" where my metabolism has learned optimal efficiency, so without being very careful about what I eat, and exercising regularily, I'm a fatty waiting to happen! I'm 56, well over menopause, and struggle even more with depression at this time of year due to SADS. I've been diagnosed with bi-polar type depression, and "double dysthymia", which apparently means it's a) inherent and b) exacerbated by circumstances (life). My life has been very stressful in the last year, and I was determined to make the change in meds before the dark seasons started.

So, I am definitely experiencing the weight gain. Just had my annual physical and I"m up 20 lbs from my last one (which was, admittedly, 3 years ago). Now I'm really depressed stare.gif ! I'm trying to get back on track with the help of a website zenhabits.net, by checking in daily on habit changes. But I'd love a buddy to check in with regularily in our weight control strategies. Let me know how you're doing.
