Hello All,
I first want to say thank you......I have spent a lot of time reading some of the posts. If it weren't for the posts here I wouldn't have made it to day 7.
I have had GAD for nearly four years. It all started when I got a job in a doctors office. For the past four years I have lived hell. I have tried everything but nothing seemed to work. I decided after a very long summer of daily anxiety attacks to try meds again....hopefully this time works.
I am trying to keep my mind focused on the long term, but the side effects are very scarey for me. I am hoping that I can get thorough this. I was prescibed ativan to get me through the side effects but I am very nervouse about taking 2 meds at the same time....I have taken it a couple of times and it helped but the darn anxiety stops me from taking it all the time
I really just want to be able to enjoy my kids, husband and friends again.
Thanks for listening........

Hi tired of anxiety

I see you have been on Lexapro (Ciprolex) for just a week so it is still very early days for you and it should be effective soon. It usually take a bit longer (4-6weeks) to become fully effective. Sometime you can get early benefits.

I hope the Ativan is helping asnd please don't worry about taking it with Lexapro as a lot of people take this combination. Ativan is t get you over the side effects of Lexapro and to help relieve your anxiety.

Are you seeing a therapist for CBT or counselling? Most Doctors recommend that you go down this route as it gives you practical coping skills to manage anxiety thinking.

Hope you get better soon

Hey,

fingers crossed for you this time. DOn't be scared about taking the ativan at the same time. As long as you only take the amount instructed they can be really helpful. I used lorazepam a lot during my start-up and when I came off meds and had no ill-effects and only ever take half a one now if I have a really stressful situation to deal with. You will find that soon enough you don't need them so don't worry yourself when they could be helping you.

Good luck xx

Hi there, I just read your post and it sounds so familiar to my story! My severe anxiety started when I got a job working for a housing authority in my town. So kind of out of nowhere I became depressed and have had terrible anxiety! I too am just in my second week of Lexapro and suffering through the side affects. I was on Lexapro last year and got off to try to make it on my own, but then i started that darn job and it just made crap hit the fan!! I cant wait until I can truelly enjoy my husband and kids again... Good luck to you and remember that you are not alone with what you are going through. Keep posting it does help!!
