I know this is odd.

My Zoloft/Wellbutrin combo is great, but I put an extra 40 lbs on over the years. Lexapro/Wb had the same weight gain side effect. I've taken 50-100mgs of trazodone occasionaly for sleep, and I'm wondering....

What if I dumped my SSRI and used a higher dosage of traz to hit my serotonin sites? Does anyone know what an equivalent dose to 150mgs Zoloft would be?

I might have to take enough traz to stun a bull elephant, but I could imagine it taking the weight off.

Hey Deet, good to see you.
You know we're not professionals and cannot give you answers or advice regarding dosages of meds. Trazodone is an AD and used for disruptive sleep patterns. I took 200mg for a long time. As you should know all pmeds have a side effect of weight gain/loss. Have you tried Wellbutrin by itself? It's also used for smoking cessation and tends to dull the appetite to prevent weight gain.

Talk to your pdoc about options for your med combo. He/she may have an alternate solution for your weight gain.

Hi Sheepie! How're things on the farm?

I've done Wellbutrin alone, but crashed after awhile, and recovered when I added back an SSRI. Apparently I need all three neurotransmitters enhanced (and maybe more, who knows? mad1.gif )

I asked my pdoc about it last night and he figured enough trazodone to make me happy would make me sleep 25 hours a day. Shucks. sadwalk.gif I'm strong like bull tho, and I'm tempted to see what 300mgs would do to me. I've been on 200mgs before during a period of extreme insomnia without much grogginess.

And no, I won't do it without my pdoc's approval!

My GP doc planned to put me on 200mg to be taken at night for depression/anxiety but at 150mg I started to get an allergic reaction (I slowly stepped up the drug at 50mg increments). I really liked Traz and thought it helped my mood even at 100mg. And, of course, it is excellent for sleep.
