I take mine at bedtime. I just restarted taking my meds again and so far it seems like bedtime is the right time. I also need some extra help to sleep because I can have terrible racing thoughts all night, and I am trying to avoid that.

I just got a perscription for cipralex(10mg) I was told that taking it a night might be my best option. does anyone have any expierence with cipralex? I already have sleep issues(difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep) will it help me sleep better....or will it make it worse? I guess its kinda a trial and error thing hey? Well Im gonna give it a shot tonight. I hope all goes well.

Well, it seemed to help me sleep for a longer stretch. I had no problems falling asleep....it actually made me kinda tired. I guess I will stick with the night time thing and hopefully it keeps working for me. I was a little nauseus from it though......another good reason to take it at night. It didnt bother me as much because I was sleeping:) Its funny, after one dose I feel better already. I made it through the whole day without getting angry or having any negative thoughts. I think a big part of it is in my head. I want to get better so badly, and I have felt crappy for so long. This is just what I needed to get better. It feels great knowing that I have figured out what is wrong with me and now I can get better. And finding this site has helped alot too! Im going to keep positive and im sure I can get through this thanks everyone!

When I was on Celexa, a very long time ago, (2002) it was in the evening as it made me exceptionally tired. Everyone is different with different reactions to meds. I found out though that I cannot take SSRI's. They just are not good for me as I then was DX'ed with Bipolar, NOS (Not Otherwise Specified) ,besides Depression and Anxiety. I did do very well on Wellbutrin for a very long time afterwards. Best wishes to all.

As directed.... 40mg's of prozac in the morning 50mg's of seroquel in the morning 50mg's of seroquel before bedtime sometimes i only take 25mg's of seroquel in the morning, depending on how i feel. sometimes i take 25mg's of seroquel at 6pm also. ....all of these directions have been given to me by my psychiatrist....i dont think it's advisable to mess around with the timings or doseage of meds without talking to your prescribing doctor or psychiatrist first, but it is important to find a routine which suits you, so keep your doctors up to date with what you are taking when. Helly.

I take my cipralex at bedtime, it makes me tired quite quickly and i am having a great nights sleep since i started on it. i used to have trouble staying asleep and falling asleep. now i am pretty much sleeping thru the night. This med is different for everyone and it depends on the person as to when you take it. but bedtime seems to work for me. I will be upping my dosage tomorrow night, as i was started on 5mg for the first week then the full 10mg which will start tomorrow and we will se how i do on that. (i am new to these meds) Dez

QUOTE (Silver_wlf @ Sep 7 2008, 11:26 AM) I started taking Celexa at night - because it made me so sleepy. Now I take it at dinnertime - it doesn't make me tired anymore - which is great! The pharmacist seems to think I should switch to the morning - so that I have the benefits all day. Is there any truth to this statement?
Any opinions? Hmmm..... That's an interesting question. I'm not sure about that. I thought you needed an even level amount of medication in your system and that's why it's so important to take your meds at the same time every day. I don't think there is a time when your meds work better than other times of the day. I think you should talk to your doctor to be sure what he thinks you should do.

I take mine at bedtime for the sake of convenience. I have an irregular schedule, so morning is kind of tough because I don't have a set wake up time for every day. I am, however, almost always home and in bed by 11, so I take my meds at that time. It's just my most consistently available time. So far, so good.

i used to take my lexapro in the mornings, but lately i've been sleeping a lot, sometimes well into the afternoon, so i have to take it later now. i was wondering, does it matter to take it at the same time every day or is it fine as long as you take it once a day?

You'll often here your doctor say to take it at the same time every day....mine says its more for remembering then it is a need to have it in your system at the same time. If you find yourself varying the time for awhile with Lexapro/Celexa I think you will be fine as it doesn't exit your system that fast. For me I try to take it in the morning, otherwise I'll completely forget!

QUOTE (blondiejem @ May 12 2008, 07:44 PM) I was wondering what time people take their AD's. I was taking mine in the morning but it was making me tired through the day. I switched yesterday to taking them at night to see if that makes a difference. Did anyone else have to do this? Did it help you any? For my depression and anxiety I was taking most of my meds at bedtime, with the exception of Wellbutrin in the morning. New doctor said that the Celexa could be what is causing me problems with sleeping. So, upon her advice, I now take 60mg in the morning instead of at night. But I don't know that I will continue taking it then. The past two days I have been easily confused, disorientated, nautious, no appetite (worse than usual), my sugars keep bottoming (I am also being treated with meds for Type II Diabetes), my memory is aweful even with the simple things, slow thought process, and very foggy brained. And to boot, I only got 3 1/2 hrs sleep last night, compared to 6 hrs the night before when I took the Celexa at night. Not sure if the cause of all this is the change in time that I take the Celexa or not. <shrug> Hugs ~ Angel
