Hello all,

Just want to know if anybody else quit therapy because of anxiety between therapist and you? I've seen a few social workers in my life and this is the first time I've felt so confused about my decision. I really liked her but felt she was afraid to tell me what she really thought. Anyway, after enduring the anxiety for a month or two, I finally quit. Guess now I'm sort of angry about it along with lonely again. I definately have problems opening up to others but that's why I went to therapy in the first place. Feel sort of rejected which is the last thing I needed. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Jean9, I'm so sorry that you had a bad experience with your therapist. All therapists are different and have different approaches. Sometimes it's difficult to find a good match. In your case, it sounds like it was not a good match and was detrimental to your mental health. It's really too bad that you went to a therapist for help and ended up feeling worse. It sounds like you did the right thing by terminating the relationship. I hope that it hasn't completely turned you off of therapy. I had a similar experience once with a psychiatrist and found a different one because that one was making me worse by his communications with me.
