Hi Sinkra,

I don't know where you are finding this information. I have taken Prozac and experience neither of these SEs you mentioned. And I have read a lot about this medication and have never seen hair loss mentioned once. As far as weight gain is concerned, all of the ADs potentially can cause weight gain, especially if lack of appetite is one the person's symptoms of depression. But from a quick review of the SEs of Prozac, only weight loss is mentioned as an occasional SE, not even a common one. I would suggest you look it up on the web and stick to medical or information sites.

Hope that answers your question and that you seek the help you need. You should really take this up with your doctor instead of here, he can better assuage your concerns about this medication. Understand that everyone can react differently, so what might be a problem for one person is a miracle for another.

BE Peace and BE Love..... wayne

Welcome back, Sinkra,
I took Prozac for years and had no weight gain or hair loss. Read the FAQ sheet above or check on the Internet websites, or consult with your pdoc about the side-effects. It sounds like you have a lot of misinformation about Prozac. If you are afraid of weight gain (it's a side-effect of many AD's), eat a healthy diet-fruits and vegetables-no fatty, fast or prepared foods, and get aerobic exercise on a regular basis.

I took prozac briefly several years ago and experienced hair loss. I also had significant hair loss with effexor. I'm on Wellbutrin now, and I haven't noticed any hair loss so far (it's been probably a year). Of course, it's not as effective as the effexor either. Oh, and effexor also caused weight gain.
