Okay, I have seen psychologists/social workers/whatever other title they use over the past 15 or so years. I have not found 1 that I really can say has helped me or I feel gives me logical advice. I have not had one that said, "Aha!" Maybe that does not happen?

Anyway, I started seeing a psychiatrist recently, but he does not give me much time to talk. I think I was in his office for 15 mins yesterday. Is this normal? Does the psychiatrist DO talk therapy? Should I be seeing a psychologist as well? I am starting to think yes, I should.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Shannon

Hi Shannon

Psychiatrist usually deal with medication and some offer counselling as well. It sounds you would like someone to talk to, perhaps ask your psychiatrist if they can refer you to have talk therapy if he doesn't offer it.

Psychologist, social workers, etc.. have different ways of working which you've likely noticed over the years. It is difficult to find the right match.

I hope you find someone that can help you through this .

Take care

I see a pyschiatrist, who does talk, sometimes talks so much I can;t get a word in. Have also seen the CAT team and a social worker and the only coping skills I have ever got is, if your feeling low give someone a call.
