I was on 20mg Citalopram for almost a year- and absolutely loved it. It was like a dark weight was lifted off of me- and any other cliche you can think of. Honestly, it's been great- I wish I hadn't waited so long to get on something. The first 5 weeks or so were pretty rough going, but that's it. The lasting side effect was that it completely destroyed my libido- and that's a big deal for me.
I chatted with my doc last week and she put me on Lexapro- it seems some people have better luck with one over the other when it comes to the libido stuff. So I switched over about 4 days ago and am now taking 10mg Lexipro every day in the morning.
I wasn't expecting too many side effects since the two are so closely related chemically, but I'm feeling pretty groggy, super tired and have a metalic taste in my mouth- and no change with the libido. Also, I've read some pretty scary stuff about coming off of Lexipro or missing a pill here or there.
I didn't have any of these problems with Cetalopram- so hopefully that means I won't with Lexipro? Any thoughts or experiences anyone want to share? I guess I'm just looking for some or feedback as I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. I worry that I might not have made the right choice switching over.
