I have taken prozac for a month, and im not satisfied with the results thus far, so my doctor thot I should try celexa.

How long do I need to wait before I can switch?

I took a trazodone for the first time last nite, and it was worst stuff ive ever taken.

I feel so groggy and have the worst headache ever right now, I skipped my prozac dose yesterday.

Is this withdrawal from prozac or just the trazodone?

I feel so crappy, im almost scared to take any pills today.

any advice would be great

This sounds a lot like a situation I was in a few months ago. I was on Prozac for a month with no real improvement, so my pdoc at the time switched to Celexa. I had to taper off the Prozac over the course of a week before starting on the Celexa, but I was able to come off it with no real problems.

I did, however, have trouble with Trazodone. The stuff left me completely incapacitated for the following day.

Good luck, and I hope you get this squared away!

Spaceboy-

"How long do I need to wait before I can switch"? Only your doc is qualified to answer this question(hopefully).

I take 25 or 50 mg nightly and have no problems. You make no mention of your dosage, and this could be a significant factor. Of course, my doc suggested a cup of coffee in the morning, to which I responded I aready do. She's fine with my one cup in the morning, and within an hour, no traces of the well known "Trazodone Hangover" exist. I do recall having headaches for a brief period after starting Traz.

"Is the the withdrawal from the prozac, or just the trazodone"? Who knows? Ask your doc about this, too.

I hope this response is somewhat helpful, but we are not med professionals here. And, so many of the answers you seek are actually have to be "professional" opinions.

The med balance is different in all of us. Your questions are valid, and should be shared with your prescriber or a pharmacist.

Hope you get this all sorted out, and you find the right mix for your MH well-being!

Hey spaceboy,

I put up with prozac and it's bizzare and useless effects for 3 months, but today i went to my doctor and I have been given some citalopram.
my doctor said i should stop taking prozac, wait 4-7 days, then start at 10mg daily for a week, then up to 20mg per day after that.

the packet is cute, the pills are tiny and they have the days of the week on the foil :)

also, not everybody gets withdrawal from prozac.
