hi,
I'm moving into zoloft room now. It's been 1,5 months of trying to get a med working this time, and I'm pretty tired already, as well as still depressed :( I started with cymbalta, which gave me horrible side effects, I wasn't eating for a week, and eventually I was very weak from this med. Then pdoc put me to prozac, which had worked very well for me in the past. well, after 4,5 weeks on that it seems that it's not doing it's job this time, and I'm switching. upping prozac would not be a good idea, since it's very energizing med, and I already have a lot of trouble with sleeping.
I'm also using seroquel 75mg at night for sleeping, I have taken it 1,5 years already. It worked better in the beginning.
zoloft is supposed to be good for post-traumatic stress disorder, which I have been diagnosed with, and also with social phobia, which I have to some degree.
Anyway - few questions - how does zoloft influence eating and sleeping? I have trouble eating, I would love to get some appetite back. And I also have trouble sleeping.
And I really really hope this med will help me.
I will start today with half of a tablet of zoloft 50mg. or should I be careful and start with quarter? is it a drug with lots of side-effects?
oh, I guess it will be trial and error again and nobody can give me exact answers.. but I'm so tired of this all already.... :(

hello
i had the same experience with prozac,in that it worked well in the past but last time i took it it just made me emotionally numb and didnt help much.i have also tried effexor twice which made me worse.
i have been on zoloft for arund 4 months, and it worked brilliantly for me at first, however i have had alot of stress recently and after struggling for 6 weeks i saw the gp who has told me to up the dose to 100mg a day(i was on 50mg).so im hoping that will help.
i had the opposite problem with eating,i tend to over-eat when depressed, but i have found that my appetite is 'normal'(for me) on zoloft and i have managed to shed some of the many pounds i gained on effexor.i am opposite sleep-wise as well,i found prozac caused me to fall asleep during the day all the time and i always felt tired, but with zoloft my sleeping pattern is normal for me.
all in all,i have found this med to be the best ive tried so far(there are very few antidepressants i havent tried),and ive had no side effects whatsoever from it.

Haven`t you gotten a notice from the doctor about the exact dose you should take?
I`m only asking as I`ve seen several here split their tablets.. Are the pdocs okay with that?

QUOTE (yoursoleil @ Aug 21 2009, 06:23 AM) I've taken zoloft now for 4 days, and gone up to 50mg within those days. I feel really depressed now. is it possible that it magnifies symptoms in the beginning?? anxiety is really low, but depression really high. fortunately I can sleep and eat normally. From what I've heard/experienced, its def. possible to make you more depressed at first. That's what its doing to me. Hang in there!

It's 6 days now. I had 2 days full of really great activities, camping in the nature, riding with horses, fire in august night full of stars. I had great company there, too, people I could be with just like I am, no pressure.. so I felt pretty ok there.. not so down as before that. I'm not good either, it was just tolerable. but tolerable is far better than hell...
anyway, I'm sleeping quite heavily on zoloft, so I'm cutting back on seroquel, which also helps to sleep.

9th day. I must say, I'm doing a lot better already. I'm productive, and I don't have horrible feelings anymore. I had good evening yesterday, having dinner with a friend and chatting. I don't have depressive feelings or fear anymore. But still it feels a bit wrong, I still feel like I lack feelings at all. Not as bad, as some days ago, but still. And I still have a post-traumatic feeling like there's something missing in my life or I don't remember anything from my past. but nevertheless it's all much better than before. I hope I will get my feelings back, soon.
